Duke Primary Care-Wellesley in Holly Springs offers comprehensive family medicine and lab services in one location. For adults, services include internal and family medicine, annual physicals, preventive care, sick visits, immunizations, chronic illness management, women's health care, and diagnostic tests like lab work and X-rays. For children and adolescents, care includes well-child visits, routine checkups, physicals, immunizations, and management of conditions like asthma, allergies, and diabetes.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level
Provide and document direct nursing care of assigned patients under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician. Nursing care is guided by the physician orders and the nursing plan of care. Patient response to care is reported to a registered nurse for evaluation, intervention and modification of the plan of care. Assist other health care personnel in the delivery of patient care.
Assist physicians and other nursing personnel in the performance of various diagnostic procedures.
Evaluate nursing care with emphasis on nursing procedures and patient responses; assist in the delivery of nursing care and selection of nursing priorities.
Assist in the development and implementation of general policies and procedures to provide for the emotional and physical comfort and safety of patients; participate in the formulation of new policies.
Participate in maintaining the environment of care including equipment and other material resources.
Participate in the identification of clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities and assists in performance improvement activities.
Assist with control of material resources and maintenance; assist in appraisal of effectiveness of material and equipment and report any equipment malfunctions to charge nurse.
Participate in in-service education programs and other conferences within the service.
Assist in the training of new employees.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Provides a broad range of treatments/therapies to patients including, but not limited to, respiratory treatments, Oral/NG/NT suctioning, and tracheostomy care, administration of medications, observation of cardiac monitors, respirators, etc. and reporting of any changes, assistance to physician with special procedures, monitoring of intravenous infusions, performs point of care testing, performs routine laboratory work, changing/irrigating catheters, specialized sterile dressings, and patient/caregiver teaching based upon the established teaching plan.
5. Provides assistance to patients and families during admission to the clinical area, orientation to the hospital/clinic experience, and discharge.
6. Provides support to patients and families. Verbally de-escalates frightened or potentially aggressive patients. Facilitates age appropriate coping strategies for patients.

Department Summary:
Duke Primary Care Pediatrics-Cary provides comprehensive medical services for children, teens, and adults, with a team of family doctors, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. For adults, services include internal and family medicine, annual physicals, preventive care, chronic illness management, and women's health screenings. The clinic also offers sports physicals, immunizations, diabetes education, and joint injections. For infants, children, and adolescents, care includes well-child visits, routine checkups, immunizations, physicals, and screenings for hearing, vision, and development, along with management of conditions like asthma, allergies, and diabetes.
