JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a PatientServiceAssociate to coordinate and participate in a variety of duties associated with daily clinic preparation process, patient identification, patient check in/out, charge posting, cash management and patient appointment scheduling. This position also involves customer service, message distribution, ancillary scheduling and preparation and referrals management.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Prepare for clinic visits by reviewing next day patients and completing next day preparation activities.
* Enter pre-visit orders and prepare new patient charts.
* Pick up X-rays, office charts, medical records, reports, petty cash and collections.
* Check-in patients.
* Identify correct patient information and verify patient demographic data.
* Edit electronic patient charts as needed.
* Collect and post co-payments and balances on accounts due.
JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
* Work requires knowledge of basic grammar and mathematical principles normally acquired through high school education
* Minimum of one year of work experience in directly communicating and providing service to patients or public; preferably in a healthcare related field.
* Experience in effectively coordinating multiple tasks or activities.
* Excellent relationship skills with Clients and Staff.
* Ability to communicate professionally while maintaining a personal touch with all.
* Ability to work efficiently under stressful circumstances.
* Good organization and prioritization skills.
* Attention to detail.
* Strong verbal and written communication.
* Basic PC and data entry skills.
* Knowledge of medical terminology and telephone etiquette.

JOB HOURS
The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.

The Patient Access Intake Specialist is responsible in ensuring that patient access processing is performed in accordance with procedure and documented in a timely and accurate manner for Emergency, Observation, Inpatient, and Outpatient patient classes. Responsibilities:
1. Patient Access Prerequisites
a. Ensures and verifies key registration information, performing insurance verification, obtaining/verifying accurately patient and guarantor demographics, initialing MyChart, etc., department-based arrival, admitting, or check-in procedures, pre-notifications and/or authorizations, financial securing accounts while complying with EMTLA guidelines, and billing accuracy.
b. Able to identify the components of a complete outpatient physician order, referral, or posting sheet to ensure appropriate scheduling, financially securing the account according to medical necessity, and the registration of the patient to the service(s) and reason(s) specified according to the provider's request.
c. Summary:
The Patient Access Intake Specialist is responsible in ensuring that patient access processing is performed in accordance with procedure and documented in a timely and accurate manner for Emergency, Observation, Inpatient, and Outpatient patient classes. This performance must meet the departmental/organizational driven outcome targets to continue the revenue flow cycle of clean claims and point of service cash collections. These functions includes, but not limited to, patient identification, department-based arriving, admitting, or check-in procedures, scheduling, pre-registration, registration, insurance verification, authorization, pre-notification, and financially securing accounts while complying to the Emergency Medical Treatment & Labor Act (EMTLA).
Responsibilities:
1. Patient Access Prerequisites
a. Ensures and verifies key registration information, performing insurance verification, obtaining/verifying accurately patient and guarantor demographics, initialing MyChart, etc., department-based arrival, admitting, or check-in procedures, pre-notifications and/or authorizations, financial securing accounts while complying with EMTLA guidelines, and billing accuracy.
b. Able to identify the components of a complete outpatient physician order, referral, or posting sheet to ensure appropriate scheduling, financially securing the account according to medical necessity, and the registration of the patient to the service(s) and reason(s) specified according to the provider's request.
c. Utilizes the system's work queues; to appropriately drive daily workflow for securing accounts, fortifying compliance of governmental, regulatory, financial, and contractual forms specified to the patient's hospital status, resolving registration based claim edits and making registration corrections to such accounts.
d. Use proper procedure identifying the patient from the master patient index (MPI) using more than two patient identifiers and when placing armband on the patient, without delay of care.

a. Utilizes price estimation tool, as part of the registration process to provide the most accurate estimate to patients.

JOB SUMMARY

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Collaborate with patients, care providers, and external resources to coordinate care that is timely and supportive of Primary Care Medical Home (PCMH) initiatives.
* Prepare for clinic visits by reviewing next day patients, completing reminder calls, and other next day activities to include but not limited too- entering pre-visit orders, identifying required paperwork, reviewing patient accounts and be prepared to collect on account balances and membership fees.
* Check-in on arrival, double identifiers for patient verification, and update all demographics in Maestro. Make all necessary edits. Present patients with any required forms for visits. Complete all Maestro check-in fields and clear all maestro alerts. Check-out patients and make return appointments.
* Open daily cash management batch for collecting payments and close each batch at the end of each business day adhering to all cash management processes and policies
* Review all work files/work queues in Maestro and make sure to make all necessary adjustments/changes to clear any issues related to the patient account.
* Manage the Signature Care order and referral work queues with the goal that all will be addressed and completed within 24 hours of submission.
* Explain billing to patients according to PRMO credit and collection policies. Handle internal billing system for internal concierge fees.
* Answer telephone live. Assist patients with request, cancellations, reschedule; and/or initiate message via in basket to the designated provider or nurse. Retrieve any unanswered calls via Centracomm answering portal and return the patients call same business day. Enter all phone encounters via Maestro as necessary.
* Maintain log for faxes and scan documents into EPIC
* Handle special provider requests and projects.
