Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health is one of the largest and most advanced behavioral healthcare organizations in the country. Nestled near the beaches between the Pacific Coast and Santa Ynez mountains, Devereux California is a therapeutic behavioral health treatment facility offering residential and community living services, clinical services, and a vocational day program for adults with multiple diagnoses, including autistic spectrum disorders, emotional and/or behavioral differences, intellectual and developmental disabilities, dementia, and other cognitive disorders. We are looking for a Direct Support II staff to help ensure the efficient operation of our Foothill and Somerset programs.
Responsibilities of the Direct Support Professional II include, but are not limited to:
+ Utilizing positive reinforcement and antecedent manipulation to increase appropriate behaviors
+ Assisting and supporting in the planning, implementation, and documentation of programs designed to meet the social, emotional, physical, and personal needs of adults served
+ Assisting, instructing, and supporting individuals with daily living activities, including cooking, cleaning, budgeting, bill pay, grocery shopping, and personal hygiene
+ Accompanying individuals on community outings, medical appointments, and other activities as directed
+ Must be willing to work with individuals with challenging and/or aggressive behaviors
+ Must be willing to provide hygienic care to both males and females
Foothill Home is a four-bedroom enhanced behavioral supports home located in Santa Barbara, designed to provide care for adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder who may have additional medical or behavioral health concerns. The primary goal is to have individuals live in a welcoming learning environment that helps them lead productive, happy, and engaged lives within the broader community.
General Shifts:
6am-2pm
2pm-10pm
10pm-6am (comes with an added $1 Shift Differential)
One weekend shift per week required
Part-time positions available, including weekend only positions! Current openings for afternoon shifts (2pm-10pm) during the week and morning (6am-2pm) or afternoon (2pm-10pm) shifts on Saturday/Sunday.
Pay:
$28 per hour, $29 for overnights
Qualifications
+ Aminimum of1 yearof experience providing direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities.
+ High School Diploma or GED required
+ Bachelor's degree in relevant field _preferred_
+ Must obtain Direct Support Professional Certification Year 1 within first 6-months of employment.
+ Must obtain Direct Support Professional Certification Year 2 within 12-months of employment. If employee is already DSP 1 certified upon hire, then DSP 2 certification must be obtained within the first 6-months of employment.
+ Must be a Registered Behavioral Technician or be willing to obtain certification within twelve months of initial employment.
+ First Aid and CPR certification required(can complete with Devereux after hire)
+ Valid driver's license and clean driving record required
+ One weekend shift per week required
+ For part time, available 3 shifts per week (24hrs)
+ Must be willing to work with adults who may exhibit challenging and/or aggressive behaviors
+ Must be willing to provide hygiene care to adults served (males and females)
The IDEAL candidate will be... empathetic, a team player, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, understand the theories of behavior management, utilize positive reinforcement, and represent yourself as a positive role model.
Work Environment: Regularly works inside areas that are adequately lighted and ventilated. Some fluctuations in temperature. Use of Protective equipment such as latex gloves, facial mask protective eye-wear, and gown. Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Some degree of physical involvement in exercise of Safe and Positive Approaches.
Physical Requirements: Significant amounts of walking, sitting, and standing. Some lifting and/or managing resistance required related to applying physical intervention techniques upward of 75-100 lbs. or more. Some repetitive wrist/hand movements, normal hearing and vision. Occasional use of computers and office equipment. Occasional driving of Devereux vehicles for business purposes. Ability to meet 100% mastery of Safe and Positive Approaches.

Casa Feliz (ages 18+)
Casa Feliz is a beautiful, seven-bed adult residential facility that serves men and women, age 18 and older, with multiple diagnoses. This program focuses on helping individuals improve their quality of life and achieve goals, such as securing placement in a supported living setting or transitioning to a less restrictive environment. The program centers on educating residents and helping them maintain positive social behaviors and life skills that promote individual self-esteem. Recreation and independent living skills programs are an important part of life at Casa Feliz.
Weisman Center RCFE (ages 59 +)
Weisman Center is a residential care facility for the elderly that serves both men and women, age 59 and older. The capacity of this warm, caring home is 15 people. The goal of Weisman is to maintain an excellent quality of life for an aging population. Maintaining skills, functioning and good health are all promoted. The program has nursing staff to assist in the maintenance of each individual's physical health. Our highly skilled staff provide a variety of choices in activities to empower residents, while still providing a high degree of structure. Weisman Center encourages residents to make choices about their activities of daily living; develop lifestyles, skills and interests; and increase independent use of community resources when possible. This home supports individuals with behavioral and medical challenges.
Compensation is $18/hour; $19/hour for overnight positions.
Part-time & full-time positions available. Part-time requirement is a minimum of three (3) eight (8) hour shifts per week.

We provide encouraging and stimulating environments in which participants can flourish and enjoy productive, meaningful and satisfying learning and recreational experiences.Adults can participate in activities, such as music lessons, volunteer work, computer skills development, and cooking classes. **Offered five days a week, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.** , this program provides a structured support system to develop and maintain effective behavior management skills and coping strategies. Our adults engage in learning, recreational and leisure activities to enhance social skills, teamwork, education and relaxation, as well as physical fitness and wellbeing. We focus on building daily living skills, creative arts, communication and problem-solving skills, sensory integration and motor skills, and community and work engagement - all within a supportive, safe and welcoming environment. Each participant has an individualized schedule and objectives based on ongoing assessments of their needs and skill level. The overall goal of our program is to help individuals develop the skills needed to maximize independence, foster social and emotional growth, and enhance their overall quality of life.
**General Shifts: 9am-3pm, Monday - Friday. NOT A FULL-TIME POSITION.** **Full-time is available through working weekend shifts in another Devereux program.** **Must be able to work a minimum of three shifts.**

The overall goal of our program is to help individuals develop the skills needed to maximize independence, foster social and emotional growth, and enhance their overall quality of life.
General Shifts: 9am-3pm, Monday - Friday. NOT A FULL-TIME POSITION. Full-time is available through working weekend shifts in another Devereux program. Must be able to work a minimum of three shifts.
Compensation is $18-$18.25/hr
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required. One (1) year of human service experience working with children, adolescents, and adults preferred.
Must have a valid drivers license and a good driving record. Must also be able to pass thorough background checks & Livescan. Must be able to complete two weeks of paid, job training classes.
The IDEAL candidate will be empathetic, a team player, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, energetic, creative, understand the theories of behavior management and positive reinforcement, and represent yourself as a positive role model. Additionally, you must be able to complete required new hire orientation class, have a strong passion for working with and helping children and adolescents with special needs and possess a valid license.
Physical Requirements: Significant amounts of walking, sitting, and standing. Some lifting and/or managing resistance required related to applying physical intervention techniques upwards of 75-100 lbs. or more. Some repetitive wrist/hand movements, normal hearing and vision. Occasional use of computers and office equipment. Occasional driving of Devereux vehicles for business purposes. Ability to meet 100% mastery of Safe and Positive Approaches.
Work Environment: Regularly works inside areas that are adequately lighted and ventilated. Some fluctuations in temperature. The duties you will accomplish are based on the assigned shift and the direction of the Direct Care Manager.
Additional responsibilities of the Direct Support Caregiver include:
Providing opportunities for choice and encouraging clients to exercise control over themselves and their environment
Assisting and instructing on food preparation and house cleaning
Helping clients to identify and acquire valued social roles, as well as healthy personal and social habits
Continuously assessing the functional levels for your client, motivating clients and providing consistent reinforcement, assessments, and feedback for all learning activities
Dispensing medication, monitoring dosages and making notes in charts in accordance with your level of training
Transporting and accompanying clients to and from day programs, work sites, and community activities
Supporting clients at vocational sites to help meet their responsibilities
Requirements:
The ideal candidates for this entry level position are patient, compassionate, nurturing and have a calming demeanor in times of stress. Successful candidates for the Direct Support Caregiver role are able to perform the physical components of the role including being able to lift and move up to 50lbs., are comfortable working in stressful situations and are able to handle difficult situations with ease.
Additional requirements for this entry level role include:
High School Diploma or G.E.D., Associate Degree in a health related area; or two years' experience in a health related field
Experience working with individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities preferred
Valid drivers' license and automotive insurance
Flexible schedule and availability to provide on-call coverage as needed
Regularly required to lift 30 lbs. Must be able to lift a minimum of 70 lbs. Must be able to pull a minimum of 50lbs.
Provide CPR after certification
Ability to pass background check and drug screen
CPR, first aid, NCI and/or MedTech certification, a plus
