Summary:
The Quality Engineer supports the direction and objectives to meet the quality needs for DuPont Electronic Polymers at the Dayton, Ohio Facility. This includes maintaining standards of product quality and using quality tools for improving the effectiveness of internal processes. S/he generates and maintains quality data and metrics and drives continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
* Ensures the quality requirements for ISO9001:2015 and other quality standards are implemented and maintained at the Dayton Plant.
* Maintains customer and product specifications management, uses statistical analysis of property data to assesses the capability to meet customer specifications.
* Monitors product properties and control and disposition of non-standard production.
* Become knowledgeable of DEP manufacturing processes and lead production improvement projects to improve quality.
* Familiarize with analytical capabilities and support improvement for both incoming and outbound quality control inspections linked to customer CTQ's and KPI's.
* Lead and/or participate in multifunctional teams for investigation of internal and external (customer complaints) quality non-conformances and determine appropriate corrective action by coordinating team using tools such as 5 Why, FMEA's, Root Cause Analysis, etc. and ensure actions are effective.
* Initiates, monitors, and executes quality improvement programs/events, to align with and achieve COTs (Critical Operating Tasks) or area goals.
* Support or lead manufacturing in maintaining document control such as Standard Practice, Standard Operating Procedures, Check sheets, Tests, etc.
* Support quality training, as needed, for new and existing employees.
Qualifications:
* B.S. in Chemical Engineering or related field
* Ability to understand the quality standard relevant to the industry requirements (i.e. ISO 9001:2015) and the controls necessary to achieve and maintain compliance with the standards as appropriate.
* Problem solving skills.
* Understanding of statistical data analysis and its application to improve manufacturing process capability.
* Delivers clear and succinct oral and written messages and able to make complex messages clear both internally and to our customer.
* Demonstrated leadership skills as to drive quality improvements. Required competencies: bias for action, integrity, judgement, strong interpersonal and leadership skills, solid time management skills, fluent communication and teamwork.
Preferred Skills:
* Proficient in Minitab and use of Microsoft programs (Excel, PowerPoint) for data analysis and reporting.

**The Job:**
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you'll be part of our Elyria, OH team working as an on-site employee. Responsible for the manufacturing support required to successfully produce assigned product lines. This includes establishing product definition and documentation, providing customer service, identifying the optimal production method, designing tooling, and supporting production. **You'll get to:**
- Responsible for leading entire manufacturing process/design of new parts and improving manufacturing of existing parts associated with a key customer(s) , ensuring alignment with customer expectations, contractual requirements, and/or internal business initiatives.
- Conform to and/or comply with all EHS, Quality, Finance, Ethics, Governance, and regulations/laws.
- Review customer drawings and inquiries, provide cost data for quotations, assist customer(s) in developing the optimal product.
- Design and prepare product drawings, operations sheets, process instructions, and maintain to latest revisions.
- Determine manufacturing methodology and rates, material requirements, coordinate processing products with secondary operations suppliers, and enter into business management system.
- Establish product function and critical characteristics for the customers' application, work with quality team in developing control plans, FMEAs, and process flow diagrams.
- Design all necessary tooling and fixtures required for product manufacture and revise as needed to improve manufacturing efficiency.
- Facilitate with all plant departments to integrate new products into the manufacturing system, and improve existing products by providing support on equipment, tooling, processes, tool crib, tool room, etc.
- Evaluate, recommend, justify, and provide technical expertise for new equipment acquisition and drive improvement with robotics, automation ,and new technology.
- Identify methods for improving efficiency, reducing waste, re-organizing work flow, establishing product packaging, warehousing methods, and implementing Lean Manufacturing (5S, Kaizen, 8 Wastes, etc).
**The Person:**

**Lead and support PPI teams by facilitating Kaizen events, value stream mapping, and root cause analysis sessions, and perform other duties as assigned to support the Marietta site's continuous improvement and operational goals.**

**Education:**
+ B.S. degree in a related engineering field required.

The Avery Dennison Identification Solutions group is looking for an Engineer to join the Manufacturing Engineering team at our site in Miamisburg, Ohio. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will have the opportunity to lead and execute cost savings projects that are directly tied to key strategic goals for the business.
Roles and Responsibilities
As an Manufacturing Engineer, you will have the opportunity to make an impact by:
Promoting safety as the most important value in the organization by contributing through training, process improvement and other environmental, health, and safety responsibilities
Documenting standard processes and procedures for implementation and training
Developing and implementing production/processing methods and controls to meet quality standards in the most cost efficient manner.
Providing support to manufacturing to resolve production and quality issues that arise on a day-to-day basis
Working with machine repair team members to analyze root cause and define corrective actions for future preventive maintenance
Conducting technical inspections of complex machines
Recommending and implementing improvements and/or modifications in sequence of operations, equipment utilization, and related matters
Evaluating and approving design changes, specifications and drawing releases
Partnering with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager to develop and execute projects that are a part of the Identifications Enterprise Lean Sigma journey
Managing special projects; which could include supplier relationships, production performance management, sustainability, and other ad hoc projects
Setting project schedules by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and solving problems
Defining requirements for new equipment validation run-off
Preparing new machines and production equipment for operation
Optimizing direct and indirect manufacturing labor and in-plant material flow through the use of industrial engineering methods including line balancing, time studies, as well as both in-plant and external material flow
Designing and planning equipment layouts
Qualifications
To set you up for success in this role, Avery Dennison requires the following qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in related field (Engineering, Mechanical/Industrial) or 2-4 years of experience in an engineering function in a manufacturing environment
Knowledgeable in Electronic Systems (wire diagrams, schematics, PLC logic .. ect.)
Knowledgeable in Mechanical Systems (Cams, Torque requirements, ect.)
Excellent math and analytical skills
Excellent communication and organization skills with an emphasis on detail
Understanding of process documentation and improvement
Proficiency with applicable computer systems, such as Microsoft Office and Google Apps (mail, docs, sheets, slides, forms)
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed in this role are as follows:
Working experience in Oracle E-Business Suite R12
Proficient creating 3D models and 2D prints using Solidworks or related CAD software.
Proficient in AutoCAD 2D for facility layout planning
High-energy, self-directed, self-starter
Ability to execute multiple projects with minimal supervision
Ability to work comfortably in a dynamic, fast-paced, and matrixed organization
Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional groups to define and execute overall requirements

In this role you will:
Champion process development and optimization for thermal processing and twin-screw extrusion, driving innovation and best practices within cross-functional teams.
Design, execute, and interpret trials for food processing innovations, facilitating knowledge-sharing and collaboration among teams.
Lead the successful scale-up and commercialization of new products and technologies by fostering teamwork and effective communication demonstration of CQV tools and principles.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship, guiding lab activities, supporting onboarding, and developing technical training programs for team members at all levels.
Collaborate across departments to identify opportunities for process improvements, solve technical challenges, and ensure alignment with business goals.
Analyze processing data using advanced modeling and simulation tools to establish specifications and guide team decision-making.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support organizational change management, ensuring all stakeholders are engaged and informed throughout transitions. Manage capital projects including equipment installation, layout planning, and vendor coordination, while leading project teams and maintaining collaborative vendor relationships.

Operate independently and efficiently, managing projects with minimal supervision, while promoting an inclusive and cooperative team environment, including up to 30% seasonal travel as needed.
What we are looking for:
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors in chemical engineering, food science, mechanical engineering, or related field is required.
5+ years' experience with advanced degree, or 10+ years with Bachelor's; experience in food manufacturing, thermal processing, and extrusion.
Demonstrated knowledge of food safety standards and validation practices.
Successful cross-functional project leadership and change management.
Skilled in process modeling/simulation (i.e. JMP, Aspen, Minitab) for throughput and quality optimization.
Understanding of ingredient functionality and its effect on food quality.
Experienced in scaling up and commercializing (CQV) processes.
Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
Able to work independently and lead projects from planning through delivery.
Additional skills and experience that we think would make someone successful in this role:
Advanced degree in Chemical Engineering, Food Science, or Mechanical Engineering.
Experience in twin-screw extrusion of pet treats, including formulation development, die design, and post-extrusion handling.
Proven ability to innovate treat formulations through ingredient experimentation and process optimization.
Experience designing and executing pilot-scale trials with thorough documentation of process parameters.
