Since Dyersburg has an open admissions policy, any adult with a high school diploma or GED and any high school student who meets certain criteria may attend. Dyersburg's course offerings are essentially divided into two general areas: Nursing and Allied Health and Technical careers. Students may leave Dyersburg and embark on a career or transfer to a four-year school. Whether a Dyersburg student needs academic support or help deciding on a major, Dyersburg has people to help. In addition to career counseling and an academic advising center, Dyersburg offers personal counseling, tutoring and programs for low-income students. Dyersburg also has a service-learning program, which places students in internships or other hands-on learning situations. Through its Upward Bound program, students from families where neither parent holds a degree receive additional support as well. There are plenty of fun activities in Dyersburg's student life. On-campus entertainment includes a choral group and theatre performances. There are also competitions, festivals and other on-campus events and activities.
