Overview Dynamic Survey, a division of Dynamic Engineering Consultants is seeking a motivated, team-oriented individual with field survey knowledge and experience for small and large scale commercial, residential and industrial projects. The Party Chief is responsible for surveying to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations and contours for construction, subdivisions, titles, or other land development purposes. Duties include all aspects of surveying including but not limited to: boundary, location, topographic, title and ALTA surveys, calculations, deed research, field data analysis, aerial ground control and topographic surveys, utility locations including pipe inverts and sizes, Right-of-Way Surveys, Wetland Location Surveys, and construction layout. Responsibilities • Conduct and analyze land, utility, boundary surveys, well location and construction stakeout. • Process construction stakeout field preparations. • Complete all field operations for a variety of surveying projects including topographic surveys, boundary surveys, transportation surveys, and construction layout. • Project datum conversion/transformation. • Maintains, cleans, and services survey equipment and vehicles as needed. • Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications • 5+ years' experience in land development surveying. • 3+ years' field experience as a Party Chief. • Must have flexibility in daily schedule start times, particularly early mornings. • Valid driver's license. • Ability to maintain and operate personal and/or company vehicle. • Familiar with CIVIL3D and Land Development Desktop, a plus. • Experience with Leica survey systems is a plus. • Proficient with robotic total stations and data collection methods, GPS survey techniques, conventional leveling and field notes. • Knowledge of field survey operations, engineering and construction industry. • Strong technical background. • Ability to work independently as a one-person crew if necessary. • Willing to train new employees • The ability to obtain OSHA 10 safety training and OSHA 40 safety training. • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Software including Word, Excel, Outlook and Project. • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • Independent and critical thinking abilities. Supervise field engineers and staff during construction on projects involving shallow and deep foundations, support of excavations and earthwork operations. Prepare field investigation instructions for the field team based on the project geotechnical scope. Develop design recommendations and/or identify the need for additional investigation/ testing based on field investigation results. Develop and coordinate the laboratory testing program based on the field results. Review and analyze field boring/test pit logs that identify subsurface soil composition and groundwater depths which are incorporated into a formal technical report. Perform common geotechnical analysis for shallow foundations, deep pile foundations, earthwork, slope stability, retaining walls and pavements. Prepare geotechnical engineering reports that detail the field investigation data and design recommendations that will be reviewed by project managers and supervisors. Review and analyze construction phase testing and inspection reports for compliance with project specifications and/or project recommendations for additional testing, as required. Communicate with clients and/or contractors to discuss project related tasks and results. Guide, manage, and support the delivery of projects and programs to ensure quality, and on-schedule and on-budget completion. Financial management of projects, including accounts receivable, client invoicing, and reviewing subcontractor invoices as related to project scope and budget. Mentor staff and assist with the development of training programs that are implemented to satisfy accreditation requirements and overall company growth. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Soil Science, Geology or related engineering field; preferred geotechnical engineering concentration. Master's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering preferred. Professional Engineer required. 5+ years' experience in geotechnical consulting, construction material inspections, and laboratory testing. 5+ years' experience in construction phase testing and inspection, including subgrade preparation, foundation installation inspection, fill placement testing, retaining wall construction oversight, soil stabilization oversight, concrete sampling and testing, reinforcing steel inspection, communicating with contractors and daily report preparation Ability to work outdoors and in an office setting, as required. Valid driver's license required. Ability to maintain and operate personal and/or company vehicle. Current or past American Concrete Institute (ACI) concrete field testing technician certificate, accredited construction inspection/materials testing certificates, OSHA 40, OSHA 10, and/or American Portable Nuclear Gauge Association (APNGA) gauge training a plus.
