- Abusive management - Retaliatory behavior if you don't kiss up or can't work 80+ hour weeks - Shocking marketing spend-thrift negligence in the millions and yet it's challenging for many employees to get small raises - Cult-like "indoctrination" behaviors - Regular melt-downs from senior management who abuse their employees just as they are abused by C-levels

What do you like best about e.l.f. Cosmetics's CEO and the leadership team?

Strong CEO. I do not trust the leadership team, and the accounting practices at e.l.f. should be closely investigated.

How would you improve e.l.f. Cosmetics's culture?

Remove toxic leadership. The CMO is going to destroy the company. Employees need balance and breaks. And leaders need to lead by example. Joining meetings from vacation does not a vacation make - illustrate by action that your employees' personal time and mental health is valuable. PRIORITIZE. When everything is a priority, nothing is a priority and quality work suffers. Make active strides to move away from such meeting-heavy culture. Nothing gets done during the day due to Zooms. If you're going to offer generous mat leave (and I'm glad you do, e.l.f.!), you CANNOT retaliate against the women who take that benefit! Many of us have heard multiple C-levels gripe about the employees who dare to take their full mat leave (in at least one instance I know of a women who was fired because of it), and one C-level who said that they actually prefer not to hire women until they're in their late 30s "for this reason". This is disgusting behavior, and needs to stop.

How did you prepare for the e.l.f. Cosmetics interview?

Look for the hiring manager on youtube and study them. Lots of egos at e.l.f., so be sure to tell them you watched them on such-and-such podcast/program. Stroking egos gets you further than actual performance. Read the investor materials.

How does your compensation at e.l.f. Cosmetics compare to the industry average?

Base is lower than average. Bonus and equity are much higher than average.
