Adam P. Symson has been the Chief Executive Officer and President of The E. W. Scripps Company since August 8, 2017. Mr. Symson served as Chief Operating Officer of The E. W. Scripps Company since November 2016 until August 8, 2017 and served as its Senior Vice President of Digital from February 2013 to November 2016. Mr. Symson also served as Senior Vice President of The E. W. Scripps Company since March 5, 2013 and served as its Vice President of Interactive Television Station Group. Mr. Symson served as the Chief Digital Officer at The E. W. Scripps Company since 2011 until February 2013, Vice President Interactive Media of Television from 2007 to 2011. He served as a Groups Director of News Strategy and Operations at Ew Scripps Co. since September 2005 and Director of Investigations and Special Projects - Scripps Television Stations since 2003. Prior to that, he served as an Executive Producer of investigations and special projects for KNXV-TV, the Scripps-owned ABC affiliate in Phoenix. He also has worked as an investigative producer for two CBS-owned stations, WBBM-TV in Chicago and KCBS-TV in Los Angeles and specialized in breaking news and political coverage while working as an independent producer for CBS News and NBC News. He has been a Director of The E. W. Scripps Company since May 2, 2017. Mr. Symson has a Bachelor's Degree in communications from the University of California in Los Angeles.

Lisa Knutson, 54, is executive vice president, chief financial officer for The E.W. Scripps Company.

Lisa leads the company’s financial operations, corporate development, enterprise-wide strategic planning and manages company-wide functions including IT, risk management and corporate communications.

Lisa was Scripps’ chief strategy officer and, before that, served as chief administrative officer from 2011 to 2017, overseeing corporate development and strategic planning and managing company-wide functions including consumer insights, human resources and information technology. Lisa played a key role in the merger-and-spinoff deal between Scripps and Journal Communications in 2015, including overseeing the transition and integration processes.

Lisa previously served as senior vice president of human resources, where she focused on strategic oversight of all aspects of human resources. Before joining Scripps in 2005, Lisa was a vice president at Fifth Third Bank, where she oversaw HR operations.

Lisa began her career at Arthur Andersen, LLP, where she worked in both the audit and tax departments before becoming a business consultant to small and emerging businesses. In between two stints at Arthur Andersen, Lisa worked as the CFO/head of administration for start-up environmental consulting firm, PSARA Technologies, Inc. In this capacity, she was responsible for raising money, debt, and handing all financial, legal and administrative matters. Her final assignment at Arthur Anderson was as the director of audit operations for the Great Lakes Market Circle.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in accountancy from Miami University.

She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Lisa serves as a corporate director for WesBanco, Inc. (WSBC) in Wheeling, West Virginia, and is a member of the compensation committee. She also serves on the board of the Cincinnati Regional Chamber and is a member of its Executive Committee.

She is a board member of TriHealth as well as Bethesda Inc., where she also serves as chairperson for the nominating and governance committee for TriHealth. She is also a board member at Camp Joy in Cincinnati and a trustee for the Scripps Howard Foundation.

Lisa was recognized in 2017 by the YWCA Greater Cincinnati as a Career Woman of Achievement and in 2011 by the Cincinnati Chamber as a WE Celebrate Corporate Woman of the Year runner up.
