In this role, you will integrate visual content and audio material to create compelling stories and complete daily editing projects for multiple platforms. You will also go out into the field to capture video/visual content.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
* Capture visual content and edit long-form stories and daily newscasts as needed.
* Work with producers, multi-media journalists and photojournalists to ensure a high quality product consistent with station's brand.
* Operate various news gathering equipment, including but not limited to video camera and video editing equipment.
* Maintain video archive filing system.
* Reacts to breaking news on an immediate basis.
* Gathers story related materials (sound and video) on a timely basis.
* Coordinates remote and studio events, creating synergy between remote and studio productions.
* Collaborates with affiliates on breaking news stories, sharing of information.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
* Associate's degree in related field or equivalent years experience preferred
* Generally, 2+ years experience in related field preferred.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
* Proficiency in non-linear, editing software
* Knowledge of and proficiency in posting content to the television station website

WTKR is seeking a skilled Master Control Operator to manage and monitor multiple programming sources while providing critical master control support. Shift: 10L00 PM - 6:00 AM
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
* Monitor several programming sources simultaneously, manage and switch sources for local television station programming, remotely from the Hub
* Monitor various levels and signals from multiple television sites
* Manage several live program logs and ensures accuracy
* Ensure the correct spots air during programming and note any discrepancies
* Solve problems and make judgment calls with business implications in mind regarding programming changes, commercials, special reports, and technical difficulties; this includes evaluating clock/timing to consider options with regard to programming as well as deciding when to escalate issues
* Make decisions and consult with internal customers regarding local transmitter parameters and operation
* Routinely collaborate with media prep technicians and traffic personnel to manage daily operation. Collaborate with other local news personnel as needed during breaking news situations

We are looking for someone with courses completed in communications, tv production, journalism, theater or related field. Must have the ability to stay calm under tight deadlines and use good communication skills with the team as well as guests of the show. Interns set up and clean up studio, take photos in the studio, and serve as a floor director during the show. Please include relevant coursework in resume/application.
The successful candidate must have a willingness to learn the inner workings of a local newsroom and how all departments in a TV station work to support each other. Before beginning, the intern *must be* enrolled in a college degree granting program, and *will be required* to show proof of enrollment in an internship course within that program.
