Overview
The ProjectEngineer II will join the Project Execution Team in major natural gas pipeline integrity, retrofits, pipeline replacement, and pipeline hydrotest transmission projects.
Responsibilities
Design and prepare engineering plans in accordance with company specifications and standards.
Lead and coordinate project design activities, ensuring completeness, accuracy, constructability, and compliance at all design stages (30%, 60%, 90%, 95%).
Manage and direct project scope development, consultant/contractor selection, budgeting, cost estimating, permitting, scheduling, material procurement, and design execution.
Support early technical scope development and ensure a clear understanding of project scope, schedule, and budget.
Collaborate with internal departments, project teams, stakeholders, vendors, and external partners to ensure alignment with project objectives.
Apply technical expertise to solve complex engineering and operational challenges (e.g., gas, structural, electrical).
Perform research and gather technical records at client offices to support engineering development.
Coordinate technical developments and resolve design or testing issues throughout the project lifecycle.
Review and oversee engineering deliverables and drawing production to ensure quality and consistency.
Track and manage project schedules to support timely execution.
Identify and mitigate project risks through coordination with the project team.
Support client and stakeholder meetings, providing technical input and project updates as needed.
Ensure all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards.
Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external personnel to support policy development and engineering best practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university, or equivalent combination of formal education, certification, and directly related work experience.
5-10 years of engineering experience, preferably on large-scale construction, utility, or energy infrastructure projects.
Experience with SoCalGas transmission pipelines is required.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; Project Management Professional (PMP) license preferred.
Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Teams.
Familiarity with SAP and Citrix platforms.
Working knowledge of CFR 49 Parts 192 and 195, and ASME/ANSI B31.4 and B31.8 codes and regulations.
Ability to apply engineering standards, construction methods, and regulatory requirements to support project execution.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to interpret technical documents, safety rules, and operating procedures.
Capable of writing clear, routine reports and professional correspondence.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with peers and stakeholders.
Self-motivated, coachable, and eager to learn new skills and technical concepts.

Overview
The ProjectEngineer supports the Project Manager and construction teams by proactively reconciling field construction documentation, preparing accurate as-built packages, and closing out projects within client standards. This role requires strong initiative and persistence, especially when working on legacy projects where documentation gaps may require tracking down construction personnel, inspectors, and engineers to obtain missing information. The ProjectEngineer must understand technical drawings and field documentation, travel to project sites, and maintain accurate tracking of multiple active and legacy projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities
Interpret construction drawings, redlines, and engineering documentation to produce accurate as-built records.
Reconcile weld maps, MJRs, NDE reports, pressure test packages, and other compliance-related construction deliverables and documentation to confirm full traceability.
Validate installed, tested, and scrap materials, quantities, and field changes for accuracy against design and construction records.
Identify missing or incomplete documentation early and take proactive steps contacting construction crews, inspectors, foremen, and project teams to obtain required records.
Organize, scan, and upload all project documentation into the client's record-keeping system (SAP, SharePoint, or equivalent).
Attend stakeholder, engineering, and construction team meetings to provide updates on project status, documentation progress, and outstanding items.
Work independently with strong initiative, while also collaborating effectively with project teams, field personnel, inspectors, and construction stakeholders.
Visit project sites to verify conditions, confirm as-built details, and gather missing field information.
Conduct field walkthroughs as needed to document final construction conditions, take measurements, or capture photos for reconciliation.
Maintain a project tracker (Excel, Smartsheet, or equivalent) that clearly reflects status, outstanding items, closeout progress, and key deadlines.
Track, log, and manage multiple projects ensuring all items move toward completion with no documentation gaps.
Coordinate with engineering, construction management, inspectors, and PM staff to resolve discrepancies and complete deliverables.
Support project budgeting tasks including labor-hour tracking, procurement documentation, invoice validation, and reconciliation of financial records.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
3+ years of experience in gas utility, pipeline construction, or field engineering is strongly preferred.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, construction documents, and redline markups.
Experience working with field personnel, inspectors, and construction teams.
Proactive communicator with the ability to track down information, close gaps, and follow tasks to completion.
Strong organizational skills and experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.

The candidate will have a broad range of responsibilities, which includes interacting with clients, leading electrical projects, and participating in new business development. In this role, your primary design delivery responsibilities will include conceptual design development, layout and selection of equipment, development of contract drawings using 2D and 3D design approaches, bid package preparation, field investigations, electrical and I&C design, and support during construction both in the office and in the field. Job Responsibilities Expectations:
* Serve as a project task manager or perform as lead discipline (electrical and I&C) person on projects as appropriate.
* Scope and budget projects, identify method of project execution and coordinate staff assignments.
* Successfully manage and execute electrical design and be on time and on budget using company systems and tools.
* Support business opportunities and assist in sales and marketing efforts (proposal preparation, interviewing, scope, fee, etc.).
* Mentor and possibly supervise other electrical and I&C engineers and designers.
* Perform contractor construction submittal reviews and Request For Information (RFI) documents and general electrical design activities for plant and pump station power systems.

* Professional registration.

* Experience in electrical power systems design and specifications, which include service entrance, feeder and branch circuits, lighting, grounding, power distribution and standby power equipment, and associated systems studies and calculations.
* Solid knowledge in the application of the National Electrical Code.
* Solid knowledge and understanding of electrical safety , NFPA 70E.
* Effective oral and written communication.
* Able to multi-task, be enthusiastic, be self-motivated, and work independently with a willingness to learn.
* Candidate should be a self-starter, results-oriented, take ownership of their work, and be able to work under tight and pressured deadlines from time to time.
