Overview
The technical advisor will provide technical expertise on distribution system design and operation for New Business Projects.
Responsibilities
Assess existing distribution systems and recommend improvements on the design to increase reliability, efficiency, and performance.
Conduct technical reviews and risk assessments of the distribution model/design provided.
Ensure compliance with industry and SDG&E standards and regulations.
Train and mentor staff on best design practices and standard operating procedures.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, related field or equivalent training and/or experience.
Project or construction management certification or equivalent is preferred.
8+ years progressive experience in Designer roles with responsibilities, activities, and tasks/duties in all material aspects which require substantially the same levels of functional knowledge and skills to perform.
Must have experience with New Business projects.
3+ years of senior level Designer, project management or lead experience.
Advanced demonstrable knowledge of, and experience with, the interpretation and application of engineering principles, Overhead, Underground and Gas Standards, Design Manuals, Service Planning Manuals, Service Guides and CPUC Rules, as required.
Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Geographical Information Systems, required.
Advanced proficiency in O-Calc Pro, SAP, DPSS, CISCO, word processing, spreadsheets and Outlook required.
1-2 years experience creating custom gas and electric AUD builds for utilities.
Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Ability to quickly learn and develop a strong working knowledge of various software applications.
Knowledge of SAP (preferred).
Highly organized with strong attention to detail.

The Distribution Project Planner will assist in the development of strategic project plans, which will help the Company meet its goals.
Responsibilities

Overview
Responsible for the design of deliverables associated with substation design projects supporting one of our largest electric utility clients. Protection & Control design deliverables include one-line & three-line diagrams, AC & DC elementary & logic diagrams, front & rear panel elevations and wiring, supervisory & control drawings, electrical vendor equipment wiring diagrams, complete cable schedule and bill of materials. Substation Physical design deliverables include general arrangement drawings, electrical equipment plan & elevation drawings, above & below grade conduit & grounding drawings, relay house layout and complete bill of materials. The successful candidate will report directly to the Substation Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities
Perform substation P&C and/or physical design, including the preparation of field notes, drawings, specifications, and estimates.
Perform careful self-checking activities to ensure the quality of work before it is presented to senior design reviewers.
Prepare computer assisted design and construction drawings of a complex nature with neatness and a minimum of errors.
Perform engineering calculations such AC and DC load calculations required to properly size auxiliary systems.
Perform engineering calculations such as conduit and bus sizing, lighting & lightning analysis, and grounding grid analysis.
Ensure all designs conform to our client's and industry standards.
Communicate and coordinate project activities with project manager, client, and others as needed.
Utilize client and/or company information system to track and update design activities.

Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a Site Civil Project Engineer to support water and wastewater infrastructure projects with a strong focus on site design. This individual can be located at any of our Southern California offices in Los Angeles, CA, Irvine, CA, Riverside, CA and San Diego, CA. This role involves leading site civil design including layout planning, piping/conveyance systems, grading, paving, roadways, drainage, stormwater infrastructure, as well as managing various stages of project development, from conceptual design to construction support.

Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop site layout plans including demolition, yard piping, roadways, grading (including coordinating geotechnical investigations and incorporating geotechnical recommendations), stormwater systems, and paving for water/wastewater projects.
Include an understanding of working with topographic surveys and survey controls.
Conceptual and preliminary design efforts, including field visits, data collection, alternatives analysis, and technical writing.
Perform hydraulic calculations and contribute to hydraulic modeling tasks.
Permitting processes and evaluating design alternatives.
Coordinate work with sub-consultants and ensure design integration.
Prepare technical memoranda, reports, and electronic design deliverables.
Provide construction-phase support by reviewing contractor submittals and responding to RFIs.
Site reconnaissance and field investigations.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in civil, Environmental, or related Engineering field.
7-15 years of relevant experience in civil/site design.
California Civil PE License required.
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and clients.
Skilled in critical thinking and problem-solving for technical challenges.
Proficient in developing construction drawings from sketches, including site layout, drainage, and grading.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Strong working experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of local utility codes and permitting procedures.
Experience with Environmental Permitting.
