This full-time plays a key role in delivering safe, reliable, and friendly service to our campus community. Drivers work 40 hours per week on rotating shifts between 4:45 AM and 12:30 AM, supporting operations 7 days a week. They also may be asked to be on-call or support overtime driving.

Key Responsibilities:

* Maintain accurate records including trip logs, fuel usage, mileage, and maintenance reports using digital systems. Computer proficiency is required to enter information in software programs. Use computer systems for scheduling, reporting, and communication with dispatch and supervisors. Support fleet management by entering data into tracking systems, reporting vehicle issues, and assisting with inventory of transportation assets.
* Ensure vehicle safety and compliance: conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, reporting maintenance needs, and adhering to DOT and university regulations. Daily safety inspection of vehicles: Completing with accuracy the Driver Vehicle Inspection Report and timely reporting of vehicle defects. Emergency preparedness and support as directed when emergencies arise.
* Maintain through and continual communication with team and supervisor at all times, Carry a 2-way radio on board buses & trolleys. When applicable, a University provided cell phone or tablet is to be charged and on. Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions to stay updated on safety protocols and operational procedures. Collaborate with other staff to coordinate transportation needs including university events ensuring timely service delivery.
* Additional duties as assigned, including serving as back-up driver (overtime) should a shortage of drivers occur. Subject to DOT drug/alcohol testing and physical exam.
* Drivers work 40 hours per week on rotating shifts between 4:45 AM and 12:30 AM, supporting operations 7 days a week. They also may be asked to be on-call or support overtime driving.

5. Attend all meetings and training sessions including all in services and driver meetings, first aid and CPR classes that are required by the district.

Assist in the establishment of safe and efficient bus routes and schedules.

Establish a professional working rapport with students so as to ensure adherence to safety rules.
Report, in accordance with District policy and practice, students who are not complying with District rules and regulations and/or driver instructions.
Report in accordance with district policy and practice all accidents/collisions/incidents/injuries involving district vehicles equipment, students, employee(s).
Must be able to physically inspect the vehicle multiple times per day, following the last student(s) unloaded for each tier of the route and prior to leaving the district vehicle for any passengers or articles left behind.
Must be physically able to exit the rear emergency exit door of the vehicle.
Be able to properly install and secure, in both school buses and school vans, car seats, star seats, cam wraps, safety vests, wheelchairs and any other safety device that a student may need.
Perform daily pre- and post-operation checks on the vehicle. Immediately report any problems and/or damage, exterior and/or interior, to the Director of Transportation.
Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle - both inside and out, including, but not limited to, the windows.
Attend all in-service training meetings as required by the district and/or department.
Submit to quarterly drug/alcohol testing as required by the Federal and State Departments of Transportation.
Assume other duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
High School Diploma or demonstrated ability to read, write and perform basic arithmetic.
Valid Pennsylvania Commercial Driver's License (“CDL”) with necessary endorsements and air brake restrictions lifted.
Satisfaction of all State and Federal requirements to drive students and school buses.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUISITE SKILLS:
At least 21 years of age.
Excellent driving record (ie: no history of DUI/DWI, no moving violations within the last 5 years, etc.).
Working knowledge of the geographical area served by the Pennridge School District Transportation Department and an ability to effectively and safely operate all school district vehicles and equipment including but not limited to wheelchair lifts, special needs equipment and safety equipment.
Strong interpersonal skills so as to be able to relate effectively with students of all ages, their parents, school administrators, teachers and other co-workers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain proper student control in accordance with district policy and provide discipline as necessary. Contact school administrators and or teacher, paraprofessional, and parents/guardian. Ensure safety of passengers while in route.

Responsible for operating school vehicle on special trips during weekends or at night when necessary.
Prepare and submit all necessary records and reports in a timely and acceptable manner. These include, but are not limited to, student misconduct forms, school activity form, log sheets, student counts, and bus maintenance/repair forms.
Responsible for updating route sheets accordingly, submitting necessary records, and keeping an updated student list in emergency folder.

SUMMARY: Transport, safely and expediently, students and other authorized personnel to and from home, between schools and on district sponsored trips. Responsible for conduction per-trip inspections, observes safety regulations and policies; enforces student discipline on the bus; and performs other related duties.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the safe and expedient transportation of students and other authorized personnel, including driving bus route according to bus stop locations and time schedules (may deviate from prescribed route in cases of illness, emergency or noise levels and settling student disputes; communicating with Transportation personnel, parents and school officials regarding student behavior (may include assistance in changing the students behavior, write student misconduct forms); and completing various forms and reports including field trips, attendance sheets, collection of student ridership forms, weekly tracking report and vehicle log sheets (mileage book).
Aid in the loading/unloading process of students needing assistance in boarding as well as those with special needs, via stairs or lift mechanisms. Monitor student riders for any suspected child abuse, sexual harassment, bullying, bodily fluids cleanup and medical conditions (e.g. diabetic shock, seizures, respiratory conditions, etc.).
Maintain continual training and have a good understanding when working with special education and wheelchair students. Work alongside with Paraprofessional to plan and discuss behavior management, emergency evacuation procedures and medical emergencies while maintaining a professional team relationship with the Paraprofessional.
Be flexible and adaptable to all students and protect all student confidential information.
Perform daily pre-trip and post trip inspections on bus in accordance with the Colorado Code of Regulations and District guidelines, including checking oil, tires and maintaining all fluids at the proper levels and checking the condition of the bus. Responsible for notifying Technician of any defect to the vehicle. Maintain the cleanliness of the bus interior/exterior. Keep outside mirrors and driver's windows clean inside and out.
Communicate in person and on a two-way radio for routine, urgent and emergency situations. Report all unsafe route and bus stop conditions to Dispatcher/Routers.
Use proper procedures when working with special education and wheel chair students. Aid in the loading and unloading process of students needing assistance in boarding as well as those with special needs, via stairs or lift mechanisms. Ensure that all safety vests and other required restraint devices are used properly. Protect all student confidential information.
Attend all meetings and training sessions including all in-services and student development training (either in person or online (Zoom), First Aid/CPR classes that are required by the District.
