This role is part of a fast track program to train the candidate in all aspects of Polysomnography (PSG) acquisition and prepare them to achieve the Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) credential via the ASTEP Pathway 1. Successful candidates will receive intensive hands on training and department sponsorship for the required AAS Sleep Technologist Education Program (ASTEP) modules. This position will be scheduled 3-4 nights per week, including weekends, from 7:30pm - 5:30am. Occasional day shift hours may be required for training purposes. General Summary: This role is part of a fast-track program designed to train in all aspects of Polysomnography acquisition and prepare trainees to achieve the Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) credential via the A-STEP Pathway 1. Principal Duties & Responsibilities: Example of Essential Duties: Successfully complete ASTEP modules within 30 days of hire. Under go comprehensive training under the guidance of Senior Technologists. Learn and then perform the foundational aspects of sleep study acquisition, including patient hookup, equipment calibration, and recognizing and troubleshooting technical issues. Perform supervised patient care until comfort in basic procedures is demonstrated. Once initial training is successfully completed, there will be a gradual increase in independence by conducting one patient per night independently, then 2 patients per night. Formal assessments of technical skill, patient interaction, and charting competency will be performed.
