Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, ESU's proximity to New York City and Philadelphia provides convenient access to internships, careers and social activities. Just minutes from campus are the country's largest water parks, scenic Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, Appalachian Trail, and other opportunities for recreational fun. As the Custodial Worker 1, you will need to think creatively and be comfortable completing routine custodial care for the University Buildings and surrounding grounds. You will be an active member of the Facilities Management team and will work closely with the Manager of Building Care Services to help achieve consistent building care for ESU. You will thrive in this role if you like combining your custodial and maintenance experience while safely using cleaning products to sanitize the buildings and surrounding area. To be successful in this role, you must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and have time management skills. Your normal hours will be Wednesday to Sunday 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM. You may have to flex your schedule from time to time based on the needs of the business to be a true Custodial Worker 1. Indoor work is 90% of the role with 10% of the role occasionally completed outside in the snow and or rain. When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed - all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the ESU operations humming. What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties) * Operate and perform routine maintenance on department equipment including but not limited to automatic scrubbing machines, high-speed polishing burnishers, vacuums and carpet cleaning equipment. * Vacuum, spot clean and shampoo carpet. * Dust and polish furniture and fixtures. * Mop, scrub, wax and polish floors. * Wash windows, blinds and walls. * Clean lavatories and replace lavatory supplies. * Shovel snow on steps/entrances and walk around assigned buildings. * Request supplies using Internal Store Requisition forms. * Report facility maintenance needs to appropriate people. Practices safety measures to prevent accidents and injuries, and to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. * Transport by state-owned vehicles, persons to hospitals and university funds/valuables to proper locations. * Investigates suspected crimes, reports findings and arrests where Rules of Criminal Procedure require, following university arrest policy guidelines. Responds to calls, including fire, bomb threat or any other university emergency. * Investigates accidents involving persons or property, reporting same and pursuing appropriate course of action on university grounds. * Cooperates and works with local, state and other police authorities, as needed. The successful candidate will join a cohesive, collaborative and diverse multidisciplinary department that offers majors and minors in Criminal Justice, Sociology, and Social Work. The Criminal Justice program offers a comprehensive foundation of core courses, in addition to a wide variety of elective courses and opportunities for internships and experiential learning. Applicants must possess prior university-level teaching experience, and be able to teach both introductory survey courses, and upper-level major electives in an area of expertise. While all specialty areas will be considered, preference will be given to candidates who: Demonstrate a strong background teaching courses related to the Courts/Judicial Process (to include areas such as bail, plea-bargaining, the trial & sentencing for example); OR topics of Social Inequalities, Crime and Justice (to include areas such as racial and ethnic disparities in crime and criminal justice, women in criminal justice, poverty and crime for example); AND an open secondary area of specialization in teaching and/or research. The successful candidate will have a 4/4 teaching load and is also expected to maintain a focused scholarly agenda and provide service to the Department and University. The position also requires working with other department faculty in developing programming activities and events, as well as culturally responsive curriculum and pedagogy. Qualifications: * A Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, Criminology or closely related program of study (ABD considered provided dissertation defense date guarantees conferral of degree before date of appointment). * Experience teaching Criminal Justice and/or closely related subject(s) at the post-secondary level. * Evidence of ongoing scholarly activity. * Minimum of two (2) years professional experience in Criminal Justice or closely related field. * The ability to work with diverse populations. As the Maintenance Repairman 2, you will need to be comfortable repairing and maintaining the plumbing systems, HVAC equipment, piping systems, and associated equipment. You will be an active member of the Facilities Management team and will work closely with the Facilities Operations Supervisor to complete routine tests to maintain steam lines. You will thrive in this role if you like combining your plumbing background with your excellent diagnostic skills all while timely executing requests to meet the needs of the ESU campus community . To be successful in this role, you must have strong attention to detail, problem-solving and technical skills. Your normal schedule will be Tuesday to Saturday 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm, but you may have to flex your schedule from time to time based on the needs of the business to be a true Maintenance Repairman 2. When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed - all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the ESU operations humming. What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties) * Employ established trade practices to install, repair, and do preventive maintenance on plumbing fixtures, HVAC systems, and other related equipment. * Install, maintain, and repair valves, faucets, traps, sinks, and other sanitary fixtures. Install fixture supports and hangers. * Maintain piping systems by opening clogged pipes and traps, repairing broken or leaking pipes, repairing steam lines, and repairing steam traps and regulators. * Repair and or replace circulating pumps and backflow valves in the heating system. * Bend, cut, and solder copper pipe and tubing; cut, ream, and thread steel pipe; cut and glue plastic pipe. * Changes HVAC filters and maintains HVAC equipment and controls. * Repair and replace electrical motors, controllers, switchboard panels, lights, power circuits, and electrical generators. * Locate and correct power failures and short circuits, install open and concealed wiring and lighting fixtures. Install temporary wiring for special events that are held at various locations on campus. * Maintain working knowledge of the use of the standard tools, equipment, and testing devices of the electrical trade. * Operate trade equipment such as drills, hammers, testing equipment, hand tools, scaffolding, bench grinder, right angle grinder saline saw, saw, cherry picker/manlift.
