Responsibilities
Provides discipline-specific treatment for children with ASD or other diagnosis, including evaluation, planning, and documentation. Develops and maintains appropriate Individualized Treatment Plans. Partners with interdisciplinary teams to provide consultation. Develops and provides coaching for family members and/or participants to incorporate new skills and/or techniques into normal routines and activities at home. Instructs family members in the proper and safe usage of adaptive equipment and assistive technology.
Provides clinical supervision, management, direction, training, and discipline to associates who provide clinical therapies as well as to administrative associates, ensuring compliance with program guidelines. Guarantees the safety and security of all program participants and associates. Interviews, selects, and provides ongoing assessment of associates
Provides clinical oversight of protocols related to, but not limited to, child and family assessment, behavior intervention, case assignments, and associate trainings. Performs documentation reviews to maintain compliance, and quality assurance with regulations and program requirements.
Evaluates program needs to develop and implement services. Conducts or attend meetings, in-services, or other meetings as requested, regarding clinical therapy services across program service divisions.
Remain current regarding new research, current trends and developments in autism, special education and related fields.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Master's Degree in occupational therapy, OR speech language pathology and at least 3 years' experience with infant/young children with disabilities, including autism.
At least 2 years of prior supervisory experience is required.
Must possess and maintain a current state or national certification and/or licensure in accordance with California state practice.
Must possess and maintain a current CPR certification.
Knowledgeable in licensed area of practice, interdisciplinary early intervention theories, and rehabilitation principles and practices.
Knowledgeable of evidence-based practices found to benefit children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Familiar with the field of early intervention including a general understanding of approaches based on the science of Applied Behavior Analysis.
Ability to maintain positive customer interaction and professionalism, communicate effectively through oral and written skills, and work cooperatively with a variety of individuals and groups; demonstrated ability to interact well with children and their families, and to maintain a positive affect.
Ability to interpret and implement policies, procedures and regulations; ability to exercise discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality in handling sensitive situations and documentation.
Ability to consistently demonstrate good judgment and decision making skills.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, Skype, etc.) and relatedsoftware applications.
Ability to pass a post-offer physical examination and a TB test.
Ability to provide proof of required vaccinations or positive titer showing immunity. A signed declination may be acceptable for certain vaccinations.

Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of a licensed Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), implements discipline-specific treatment for children diagnosed with autism and other special needs. This includes, but is not limited to planning, documentation and professional communication. In addition to:
Provides direct treatment assistance to patients or clients under the supervision of a SLP.
Follows and implements documented treatment plans or protocols developed by a supervising SLP.
Maintains productivity goals each week/month by completing all scheduled therapy sessions; provides make-up sessions as available.
Contributes to the preparation of re-evaluations, progress reports and discharge summaries with the supervising SLP; Completes daily intervention reports and calendar updates, while meeting required deadlines.
Promotes best practices and ensures patients and families receive the highest quality of therapy. Collaborates and consults with other service providers as necessary.
Assists in goal-setting and modification throughout the intervention process in collaboration with supervising SLP, clients, and family/caregiver(s)/legal guardian(s).
Conducts speech and language screening, without interpretation, and uses screening protocols developed by the SLP.
Completes checks and maintenance of equipment including, but not limited to, augmentative communication devices.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
AA Degree from accredited Speech Language Pathology Assistant program or Bachelor's Degree in Speech Language Pathology or Communications Disorders, or a combination of training, educations and experience to perform the job successfully.
1-2 years' experience working with clients with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Possess current licensure from the state Board of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers and maintain good standing.
Knowledgeable of evidence based practices found to benefit children with Autism.
Demonstrated knowledge in speech language therapy, transdisciplinary early-intervention theories, and rehabilitation principles and practice.

Position Overview
Under the supervision of the Family Preservation Clinical Coordinator, the MFT Trainee/MSW Student Trainee is responsible for completing psychosocial assessments and in-home outreach counseling services for families in the Family Preservation Program. The trainee will provide advocacy and therapeutic intervention for children and families in a manner consistent with best practices and contractual requirements from DCFS.
Duties
Participates in the ongoing Quality Assurance efforts for the provision of family preservation services to children and families.
Conducts in home visits and works with clients following their initiative in the development and achievement of their case plan goals.
In collaboration with members of the client's treatment team, facilitates multi-disciplinary case conferences to develop initial treatment plans as well as to review ongoing progress.
Maintains and seeks communication with community groups and resources, which support the client's psychological functioning.

Description of Population Served Para Los Niños' Mental Health Services Program works to address the mental health needs of children, ages 0-21, and their families in Service Planning Area 4 of Los Angeles (Skid Row, Downtown, Pico-Union, Boyle Heights, and Ramona Gardens Projects). We are the area's only mental health services provider for children in this area. 100% percent of the children and families we serve come from very low-income households, with the majority of them living 250% below federal poverty guidelines. The current median income of our families is $11, 500 for an average household size of 3-6 people, less than five times the California average. 95% of our clients are Latino; 5% are African-American. 87.5% of the children's caretakers read little to no English. Of the children we serve, 18.2% are five years old or under; 52.2% are 6-10 years old; 25.2% are 11-15 years old; 4.4% are 16-20 years old.
Position Overview
Mental Health: This is a clinical track that entails placement within the Mental Health Department, primarily working with children from the ages of 6 - 18 years old. Students will receive training in Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health documentation and obtain certification in a specific evidence informed practice. Students will provide the following services: intake assessment (an extensive bio-psychosocial history, diagnosis and treatment plan); individual, collateral, family and group psychotherapy; crisis intervention when needed; targeted case management (i.e. linkage to additional support services) as clinically indicated. Students will also participate in a multi-disciplinary team aimed at integration and collaboration; consultation with board certified pediatric psychiatrist; consultations with teachers, administrators, after school staff and other natural supports for their assigned clients. Students will have the opportunity to co-facilitate groups in the schools on topics such as bullying, social skills, etc.
Available Internship Days and Times
This internship is a 20 hours a week commitment. Internship days and times are flexible. However, Wednesdays are a mandatory training day as this is the day of the week in which staff meetings, trainings and group supervision take place on a weekly basis (9am-3pm).
The primary start date for training is the first Wednesday after Labor Day. However, there are several slots available to start in June for the Mental Health track. There will be a 2-day orientation that will take place at the end of August in order to help the students with onboarding activities. This 2-day orientation is necessary in order to ensure students have completed activities that will support their beginning their clinical training. It should also be noted that the first two weeks of training in September, most trainings are scheduled to take place on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Attendance to these training days is required unless prior arrangements have been discussed with the respective training supervisor.
Special Requirements
We require that all students pass a livescan, drug screening and TB test. Agency wide trainings are also required (topics on trauma informed treatment, child abuse reporting, CPR / First Aide, etc.).
Supervision and Training Plan: (describe format and delivery: individual, group, time, day of training and training topics).
Supervision: Students receive 1 hour of individual and 2 hours of group supervision weekly. Both individual and group supervision is done in person. Group supervision consists of no more than 8 students. Students present cases each week in a structured presentation format to facilitate this area of their professional development.
Meetings with Preceptors / Mentors: Students are assigned a preceptor / mentor at the beginning of the training year. This preceptor / mentor is a seasoned clinician who will essentially be available to support the student as they learn their role in providing services. For the students who are in the Mental Health Track, this preceptor / mentor will have the student shadow them in doing an intake assessment of the student's first client. The preceptor / mentor will then shadow the student as they administer the intake assessment of their second client.
Trainings: Students participate in weekly and bi-monthly trainings. Trainings take place on Wednesdays from 10am-12pm. Once to twice a month (1st and 3rd Wednesday) we hold trainings on various topics that support the work with children and families. Various topics that have been presented previously include crisis intervention, compassion fatigue, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, attachment, brain development, Relationship Based Approach, art therapy and sensory processing disorders.
