For more information, visit **************** Job Description: In this role, you start as an Operations Helper (entry level position) progressing into the Operator Apprentice Program (OAP) to become a Chemical Operator. *These positions are located in Kingsport, TN. Responsibilities In this role, you will work under the general supervision of a team manager or coach to safely perform the following duties and responsibilities: Prepare orders for shipment by packaging and loading finished product into warehouse or onto tank cars or trucks. Unload and unpack raw materials arriving at the plant. Operate forklifts. Clean and inspect tanks. Open and close valves. Maintain a clean and safe environment, including performing daily housekeeping in assigned work area and all other work areas as instructed. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Required: High School Diploma or GED is required. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have valid driver's license. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Willing and able to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including overtime, sometimes on short notice. Willing and able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when required, such as steel toe shoes &/or boots, hard hat, high visibility clothing, respirator and protective eyewear. The position will support innovation teams within Eastman by providing bio-analytical expertise and testing with particular emphasis on biodegradation and industrial microbiology. She/he will conduct biodegradability studies, including analysis of the mechanisms of biodegradation for Eastman chemistries, and manage external (official) testing studies. Properly inspects rubber goods and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Understands when to wear personal protective equipment. Sets poles and anchors. Assists with installing transformers, lightening arrestors, cutouts, cross-arms, insulators, switches and switchgear. Assists in replacing fuses in transformers and clears faulted circuits and systems. Frequently works with energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect the lives of themselves and others. Maintains company vehicles, equipment and tools in good working order. Able to perform rigorous physical labor. Understands proper use of company radio. Understand basic rigging, hand lines, and lineman knot tying. Understand the proper use and maintenance of hand tools. Capable of receiving and following directions. Possess a basic knowledge of materials used in line work. Able to identify primary and secondary voltage on a circuit. Must be familiar with induced voltage. Capable of assisting with the installation and hook up of a single‑phase transformer. Capable of performing basic bucket rescue/escape. Understands the basic concepts of equipment set up and grounding. Capable of working at heights and/or confined spaces.
