Position Summary: This position is for a role in the maintenance department at Howmet Aerospace's Barberton Aluminum Remelt Foundry, known as the Howmet Barberton Cast House. The plant operates a state-of-the-art and highly automated continuous horizontal aluminum casting operation on a nonstop (24/7/365) schedule. This is a fast paced and safety critical operation. The position is tasked with the daily maintenance requirements for maintaining the equipment and cast lines operational, which includes championing the safety of all crew members, maintaining the integrity of equipment and other facility upkeep tasks with an emphasis on machine repair. The maintenance technician is tasked with supporting all aspects of the maintenance organization, performing preventative maintenance on equipment throughout the lifecycle of the casting process, troubleshooting malfunctioning equipment and performing repairs, and participating in reviews and special projects aimed at increasing equipment reliability. Essential Duties: Repairs, maintains and troubleshoots continuous process machinery performing mechanical and electrical repairs on equipment such as motors, pneumatic systems, conveyor systems, hydraulic systems, water systems, production machines and equipment in accordance with diagrams, specifications and operator's manuals. Dismantles devices and machines to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists, hand tools, power tools, and cranes Performing necessary maintenance work, such as replacing pumps, motors, chains ,spokets, cables, repair or replace drives, troubleshoot PLC logic, fabricate and mount guards, troubleshoot and adjust hydraulics. *Qualifications for Internal Candidates Basic Requirements Must have completed a recognized, appropriate apprenticeship or have at least eight (8) years of relevant on-the-job industrial electrical experience, to include digital electronics, PLC's, combustion, and instrument repair, or a two (2) year degree in Electrical Engineering Technology (or equivalent) with two (2) years of relevant on-the-job industrial electrical experience. Fabricates parts as required using machine and hand tools common to the trade. Burns, brazes, solders and performance simple layout, fabrication and welding in the servicing of electrical and electronic equipment, including related piping and mechanical component. Makes either temporary or permanent repairs or adjustments to equipment such as main motor drives, generators, control panels, relays, controllers, switchboards, circuit breakers, lighting circuits, resistors, etc. Install and repairs conduit, splicers, and insulates wires and cables, making splices on hot lines, isolates circuits for repairs. Maintains integrating, indicating, or graphic electrical or mechanical instruments. Makes mechanical repairs are required in connection with the servicing of electrical and electronic equipment including cranes. Advises when faulty equipment should be shut down for repairs. Tests, repairs and/or adjusts electronic scales to correct any variation from accuracy. Test, repairs and adjust electrical meters, such as osillograph, tachometers, ampmeter, voltmeter, power factory meters, phase shifter, etc. Cleans, paints, and lubricates equipment such as bearings, lights, reflectors, switch boxes, controls, pumps, compressors, fans, ect. Installs, repair and maintains power transmission lines, transformer, high tension sub station equipment such as disconnects, switch gear, bushings, insulator slings, lighting arrestors, phase wire grounding equipment. Assists other maintenance or operating personal in repair work as required. Fills out reports of maintenance work performed, parts and materials used, inspections made, etc. Operates cranes, machinery, mobile equipment, hydraulics lifts; erects and dismantles pepe scaffolds and performs necessary rigging duties in connection with the servicing of electrical and electronic equipment.
