Overview:

The Echocardiographer is a skilled person qualified by technological education to provide patient services using diagnostic ultrasound under the supervision of a doctor of medicine responsible for the use and interpretation of ultrasound procedures. Assist the physician in gathering Echocardiographic data necessary to reach diagnostic decisions. Performs related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent and one of the American registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) prerequisites for education and required clinical experience.
  • Licensure: Requires a registry or registry eligible status with the ARDMS.
  • Certifications: Must have a current American Heart Association BLS Heartsaver Card or obtain within probationary period.
  • Other: Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Echocardiography is a highly skilled allied health profession requiring judgment and capability in assisting the delivery of health care as it relates to this modality. Responsible for reviewing the pertinent patient history and supporting clinical data to facilitate optimum diagnostic results, including performing the appropriate procedures that provide a sonographic record of the anatomical, pathological, and/or physiological data necessary for interpretation by a physician. Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Requirements: This individual must be capable of walking long distances, transporting ultrasound equipment, and assist in lifting patients. Equipment Used: Ultrasound equipment.

Community Health Systems echo technician job description

**This is a full time Echo Tech position working in our Cardiovascular Lab unit at Northwest Medical Center.**

Performs ultrasound examinations of the heart to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disorders affecting circulation. Records and maintains test data and prepares preliminary interpretations of test results. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a physician or manager. Associate's degree and graduate of an accredited program in Ultrasound Technology certification through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARMS). Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
Required:

BLS through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross (ARC)

Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS), or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).

Title: Echo Technologist
Job Type: Permanent / Direct Hire
Setting: Clinic
Location: Robbinsdale, MN
Schedule: 7:00-3:30, 7:30-4 & 8:00- 4:30 (for 8 hour shifts), or 6:30-5 (10 hr shift). Includes a rotation for scheduled weekends & off-premise call approximately every 5 weeks, and 1 weeknight of off-premise call.
Pay: Competitive pay based on experience + $5k sign on bonus! Relocation assistance offered!

The Echo Technologist duties to include but not limited to:

-Demonstrates skill proficiency outlined to perform complete and accurate echocardiograms
-Applies critical thinking skills and communicates critical values to the physician in a timely manner
-Demonstrates competency in Epic & PACS reporting computer systems
-Knowledge of proper transesophageal probe disinfecting techniques must be demonstrated and annually assessed
-Contributes to the general operation of the Echo Lab through assigned activities or self-directed involvement
-The team member is accountable to maintain skill proficiency, including improvement where deemed necessary, and upgrading any additional or new skills on the appropriate position skills list

REQUIREMENTS:
-Registered or Registry eligible: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) in Adult Echocardiography is required. New graduates are required to obtain certification within 12 months of hire as a condition of continued employment
-At least 1 year of previous experience is preferred
