The Nature & Discovery Specialist is responsible for creating safe, age-appropriate, adaptive programming that is focused on STEM based outdoor education for campers aged 8-17 years old. This staff member will create dynamic and detailed lesson plans, and will be responsible for supervising volunteers each session. They will also lead the Outpost program, an adventure based overnight camping experience for teens.
Team Overview:
The Program Team brings the camp experience to life by creating programs, building community and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all camp participants. The team creates accessible and developmentally appropriate programs and recruits, processes, and supports a large team of volunteers and seasonal staff. In adherence with laws and camp governing bodies; they develop, plan and implement camp emergency procedures and policies.
Responsibilities:
Attend Seasonal Staff Training (May 18-29, 2026)
Design and implement educationally-driven programming for Nature & Discovery, outpost camping, and other program areas
Modify and adapt activities in response to weather and to meet medical, psychosocial, accessibility, and other camper needs to ensure an inclusive experience
Enforce safety regulations in nature & discovery areas and promote Leave No Trace principles
Ensure that all supplies are safely stored and maintained
Collaborate with supervisor in the preparation, purchase order, and record-keeping of inventory of supplies in assigned areas
Support, lead, and evaluate Nature & Discovery volunteers
Submit weekly Nature & Discovery plans to supervisor
Assist the Cabin Life team with maintaining appropriate supervision of campers, including providing overnight coverage in cabins as needed

Responsibilities
* Projects involve a considerable amount of overnight travel, projects may be all over the country.
