The town board of Eden Prairie held its first meeting in a log school house on May 11, 1858, the same day Minnesota became a state.
Flying cloud airport became the first major development and landmark in the city, and sparked the cities sudden rapid growth for recreational facilities in the mid 1860’s.
The first organization of this society was in 1864.
In 1871 a church was built in section 21, near the site of the old school house.
He was the first stated pastor and remained until 1871, when he was succeeded by Rev.
Isacc Crow bought the mill the next year, and operated it until his death which occurred in 1872.
The Methodist Episcopal, United Presbyterian, and Episcopal. It was, however, re-organized in 1873, in consequence of the failure of recored the first organization.
James Till bought it from the heirs, and sold it in 1878 to J. Balme.
A small store was also opened in the fall of 1880 at the station, by Jacob Rankins.
Another railroad, the Hastings & Dakota Cut Off, passes through the northwestern part of town built in 1880.
Come join the Eden Prairie Historical Society as it celebrates its 50th anniversary and the 95th anniversary of the 1924 Consolidated School, which today is the Eden Prairie School Administration Building.
In 1929, the first graduating class left the Eden Prairie Consolidated School.
