1966

General de Gaulle opens the Rance tidal power plant in November 1966.

1973

After years of sustained growth, France is suddenly plunged into the oil crisis of 1973.

1977

In 1977, Fessenheim, becomes the first power station to generate energy using enriched uranium.

1999

EDF Trading was founded in 1999.

1999 EDF and Louis Dreyfus sign joint venture to create a London-based energy trading company – EDF Trading.

2000

2000 Began to trade oil, UK natural gas and German power.

2001

2001 EDFT signs a transformational deal for long-term gas supply and pipeline capacity.

2003

2003 EDF acquires 100% of EDF Trading.

2006

2006 EDFT opens its dedicated office in Paris.

2009

2009 EDF Trading signs trading partnership with Calyon.

2011

2011 EDFT registers its first Chinese solar CDM project.

2013

2013 EDF Trading North America acquires shale gas assets in the US.

2017

2017 JERA acquires EDFT’s coal and freight business and EDFT takes a 33.33% stake in JERA Trading.

2019

2019 JERA Global Markets becomes operational.
