The successful applicant will participate in research on maternal effects (how a mother's health or age affects the phenotype of her offspring) and the biology of aging, in a project funded by the National Research Foundation. This research uses rotifers--microscopic, aquatic organisms--as a laboratory study system. The Gribble lab is housed within the Josephine Bay Paul Center, a collaborative research group addressing questions of microbial diversity, molecular evolution, and comparative genomics. 2026 Research Experiences for Undergraduates Internship in Astronomy at the Maria Mitchell Association For more than 100 years astronomers at the MMA have offered research opportunities in astronomy and astrophysics. This long-established undergraduate research program honors Maria Mitchell's dedication to “learning by doing” and is recognized for its contribution to inspiring and training generations of astronomers, notably receiving the prestigious Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring. The mission of the MMA is to inspire people to experience Nantucket's sky, land, and sea. The IFAW Marine Mammal Rescue (MMR) team is based on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, a global hotspot for cetacean single and mass strandings. Each year, the team responds to an average of 350 marine mammal strandings, generating volumes of data. The Data Manager (DM) plays a critical leadership role in overseeing all aspects of data management. As a senior member of the MMR team, the DM supports the effective development and implementation of IFAW's programmatic strategies within the Marine Mammal Rescue Program in line with IFAW's institutional and programmatic strategic plans. The Data Manager manages all databases for IFAW's Marine Mammal Rescue Program. This role oversees and coordinates data entry, archival, analyses, and dissemination. This position manages one to two direct reports (part-time technicians), other Biologists and Technicians as assigned, oversees interns when they are engaged in data-related tasks, and directly mentors one intern per session. Reporting to the MMR Program Director (PD), the DM will support monitoring, evaluation and learning processes within their focus area. The DM works closely with the PD to manage project budgeting and expenditures related to data collection and curation. The DM also collaborates with other program managers and staff on program-wide tasks (e.g., researcher requests and publications). As with all MMR team members, the DM will participate in all aspects of stranding response, as needed. The Seasonal Tour Guide will work independently to give the public a guided over sand vehicle experience on the property while discussing the cultural and natural history of the property and introducing them to the trustees of reservations. This position is either full or part time and seasonal. Possibility of extension and work in future seasons pending performance. The amount of work will vary depending on tour bookings and will not exceed approximately 8 hours in one day. Specifically, you'll: Drives a 4-wheel drive truck from Wauwinet Gatehouse out to great point and back on an established tour schedule Provides tour guests with oral interpretive information during tours Educates tour guests about the wildlife and management on the refuge during tours Performs daily tour vehicle maintenance and cleaning Provides excellent customer service Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation. The Prep Cook is a part-time, full time or seasonal non-exempt position responsible for preparing ingredients for food production in the Farm kitchen in conformance with established Farm policies, strategies, and procedures. Primary Responsibilities: Performs any functions necessary, within scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of customer service and responsiveness to the needs of individuals, families, businesses, and organizations served by the Farm. 1) Prepares ingredients for hot or cold or items under the direction of chefs and cooks. Responsible for weighing and measuring ingredients, gathering equipment necessary for the above. 2) Prepares sandwiches, salads, and paninis and other ingredients for prepared food that sell in the market. Prepares ingredients and keeps sandwich board stocked in order to create large numbers of sandwiches per day. May slice deli meats & cheese if over 18. Works quickly and efficiently. 3) Packages and labels products prior to delivery to the retail area. May be responsible for checking inventory levels in retail to ensure displays are fully stocked. 4) Maintains sanitation standards and facility cleanliness. Responsible for cleaning working areas, equipment, floors and may act as dishwasher as needed. Other Responsibilities: 9) Completes any other kitchen duties as necessitated by seasonal scheduling.
