As President, Peter is primarily responsible for EPIC’s national expansion. He is also a member of EPIC’s Board, Executive Leadership Team and Operating Committee. Peter has over 35 years of insurance underwriting and broking experience, including successful stints leading the industry’s largest broker, founding a start-up and growing it to a top-20 broker, and now working with his colleagues at EPIC building the next great specialist firm. Peter began his career in underwriting at the Home and the Continental Insurance Companies before crossing to the broking side with Marsh & McLennan in the early 1980s. Over the next 25 years he worked on some of the largest and most complex client assignments and managed successively larger divisions of the company. Peter had the opportunity to play a significant role in the firm’s transformational efforts in specialty practices, focused placement, and insurance capital formation, as well as spearheading regional integration efforts of some of the largest acquisitions ever made in the broking business. He was the youngest person in the firm’s history to be named Managing Director in 1986, and went on to be named CEO of Marsh’s North American Operations before becoming Co-President of Marsh globally, a Marsh board member, and member of the MMC Partners Group. Wanting to try his hand at startups, Peter left Marsh in 2005 to co-found Integro Ltd. Over the following 9 years he helped build the firm to a “top 20” brokerage with operations in the US, UK, Canada and Bermuda. He served as Integro’s Chairman, CEO and President until its sale by founding shareholders. Peter graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Science in Finance, the Stanford Graduate School of Business Executive Program, and holds the Certified Property & Casualty Underwriter designation. He is a member of the Board of Overseers of St. John’s University’s School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science (formerly the College of Insurance) and has been a member of the Board of Directors of the California Chamber of Commerce.
