Position Overview
EEI is seeking a Managing Director, Human Resources to modernize HR operations, strengthen core processes, and enhance the employee experience in support of the organization's mission. This leader will oversee key HR functions while serving as a strategic partner to leaders across the organization.

Accountabilities HR Operations & Technology
Build a service-oriented HR infrastructure that improves efficiency, strengthens process consistency, and provides employees and leaders with clarity and confidence.
Modernize HR processes and optimize HR technology to improve data quality, reporting, and automation, giving the leadership team the insights needed to make informed, strategic decisions and enhancing the overall employee and manager experience.
Establish clear operational frameworks that determine what should be managed internally versus strategically outsourced.
Partner with Legal and Finance to maintain compliance and uphold operational excellence.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
Design and lead a forward-thinking talent acquisition strategy that anticipates organizational needs and ensures EEI hires top talent to achieve initiatives.
Elevate the recruiting experience by partnering closely with hiring managers to define roles, strengthen selection, and onboard the right talent at the right time.

Performance Management & Employee Relations Partnership

Ensure consistent guidance, expectations, and support for employees that align with our values by strengthening leadership alignment throughout the organization.
Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders, offering practical guidance on performance and employee matters, and partnering with General Counsel to ensure decisions align with EEI's values and legal standards.
Total Rewards Administration
Guide the administration and evaluation of compensation, benefits, and recognition programs, ensuring they remain competitive and aligned with EEI's workforce needs by leveraging compensation studies, market benchmarking, and external expertise when needed.
Provide insights on evolving workforce expectations and use data and external resources to help EEI maintain attractive, equitable, and relevant offerings across a diverse set of roles.
Strengthen talent pipelines through workforce planning and succession planning, with particular emphasis on identifying and developing high-potential employees.
Enhance leadership and management effectiveness by supporting programs that develop core people leadership and supervisory skills across the organization.
Enhance talent development by creating growth pathways and cross-functional opportunities that build capability and strengthen engagement.
Advance employee engagement through practical, integrated approaches that reinforce EEI's values in daily interactions and HR practices.
Education & Experience
15+ years of progressive HR experience with strong business partner, generalist, and HR strategy work.
Demonstrated experience improving HR processes, systems, and service delivery in a complex or multi-stakeholder environment.
Experience coaching and supporting leaders on performance, employee relations, and team development.
Background supporting or developing leadership and management development programs.
Experience implementing HR technologies (HRIS + ATS) and the ability to use data to guide insights and provide an HR dashboard for the leadership team.
Strong business acumen, communication, and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence and collaborate at all organizational levels.
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field is preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SENIOR DIRECTOR, STATE LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS:
The Senior Director, State Legislative Affairs will oversee EEI's day-to-day engagement with state elected officials and advocate for the industry's policy priorities. Engage with third party groups and leverage stakeholders to advance EEI member policy objectives. Engage and manage relationships with national state legislative and governor groups, as well as state policy think tanks to advance policy positions for EEI members. Work closely with EEI member company officials and internal EEI teams to develop and implement advocacy strategies and tactics to advance state policy priorities.
State Legislative Engagement and Partnerships (80%)
Represent EEI at conferences for national state legislative and governors' groups and think tanks. Work to advance EEI's key priorities with the various elected official groups and state think tanks and to promote the business model of the electric power industry.
State Issue Tracking (10%)
Work with the EEI External Affairs team and member companies to track key trends and develop and implement strategies and tactics to advance policy priorities.
Team Management (10%)
Oversee State Legislative Affairs programmatic budget. Supervise 2 direct reports: the Manager of State Legislative Affairs and the Manager of State Legislative Research.
REQUIRED & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor's degree is required; advanced is preferred.
12 years or more of relevant state government affairs experience. Energy industry experience preferred.
Experience and relationships in national state legislative organizations, such as NGA, NCSL, CSG, etc. Expertise energy and/or electricity policy a plus.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse groups to build consensus.
Proven leadership and management experience, including staff supervision and cross-functional collaboration.
Excellent communication and writing skills, including the ability to develop clear, persuasive, and technically sound materials.
Strong public speaking skills.
Ability to think strategically and drive organizational objectives in a fast-paced, evolving policy environment.
Experience working with or within industry associations, government, or policy-focused organizations is a plus.

Compensation
The salary range for role is $160,000-210,000. Starting annual salary will be determined on individual qualifications. Job Description:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides strategic financial leadership for ABA, its subsidiaries, affiliates, and associated plans and funds. This role ensures the integrity of financial operations, compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements, and transparent reporting to the Board and executive leadership. The position partners closely with the Chief Finance & Administration Officer (CFAO), shaping financial strategy, risk management, and investment decisions while leading a team of eleven responsible for operational excellence.
The CFO also serves as ABA's Controller and reports directly to the CFAO.
Key Responsibilities: Financial Operations
Manage accounting for ABA, its three nonprofit subsidiaries, two for-profit entities, two affiliates, PAC, and Thrift and Retiree Medical Plans.
Ensure accurate, complete, and GAAP-compliant financial records.
Implement and maintain internal controls that safeguard assets and ensure compliance with applicable laws.
Oversee multi-state payroll, accounts payable (including P-Card, purchase orders, and expense reimbursements), accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
Manage treasury activities, banking relationships, and short-term investment strategies.
Financial Planning & Analysis
Lead development and consolidation of ABA's annual budget (operating, capital, board-designated funds), ensuring appropriate allocation of internal costs and alignment with organizational priorities.
Provide regular forecasting of operating results, cash flows, and fund utilization.
Analyze financial performance, trends, and variances to inform leadership of decision-making.
Support CFAO with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed.
Oversee cash flow, liquidity, and short-term investments across all funds, including General, VEBA, Board-designated, and restricted funds, optimizing returns while ensuring resources are available for operational and strategic needs.
Financial Reporting & Audit
Prepare and present financial statements, reports, and analyses to the Board, executive leadership, and department heads.
Support external audits and internal audit processes, including management responses and implementation of audit recommendations for seven annual financial audits.
Ensure compliance with all reporting standards and FASB requirements.
Tax and Compliance
Oversee timely filing of sales, income, payroll, property, and informational tax returns, as well as lobbying reports.
Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, including sales tax and vendor documentation (W-9/W-8).
Ensure all revenue management systems comply with state sales tax regulations, maintaining accurate setup and reporting across platforms (e.g., Nimble AMS and Cornerstone LMS).
Investment Management
Manage ABA's investment portfolio in accordance with Investment Policy Statements and in coordination with the Investment Advisory Committee.
Serve as staff liaison to the Investment Advisory Committee and investment consultant; oversee fund rebalancing, manager selection, and policy updates.
Optimize returns on operating funds while maintaining liquidity for operational needs.
Financial Systems Administration
Oversee the financial system of record (Workday) and integrations with planning, revenue management, contract management, and P-Card systems.
Ensure system enhancements, reporting, and internal control requirements are implemented efficiently.
Additional Responsibilities
Recommend, update, and monitor internal controls, policies, and procedures annually.
Maintain Finance Department business continuity plans.
Serve as backup to CFAO for all financial matters.

Your Impact
The Strategic Engagement Specialist will be critical to advancing one of NERC's core focus areas - engagement. The specialist will support implementation of plans to achieve engagement priorities and track engagement efforts across NERC. Furthermore, the specialist will provide stakeholder engagement and communications support to certain NERC departments and committees. The specialist will also play a role in supporting strategic planning efforts within NERC. The specialist will report to the Manager, Strategic Engagement.
Your Role
Engage directly with external stakeholders (e.g., electric industry representatives and trade organizations), such as through email, meetings, and conferences.
Track and analyze NERC's stakeholder engagement efforts and provide regular status updates to NERC leadership on key metrics.
Support the development and maintenance of a stakeholder database.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have at a minimum:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE MANAGING DIRECTOR, PUBLIC AFFAIRS:
This Managing Director, Public Affairs will lead EEI's public affairs practice and provide strategic public affairs and campaign guidance to help EEI member companies advance their policy priorities, particularly at the state and local level. The individual will execute public affairs campaigns utilizing issue experts and third-party groups, research, grassroots, strategic communications, etc. as needed.
Other Responsibilities of the Managing Director, Public Affairs:
Provide strategic public affairs guidance and direct assistance to EEI leaders and member company executives on state and local advocacy strategies.
Draft and execute public affairs plans to support state and local legislative and regulatory advocacy initiatives.
Support grassroots and stakeholder engagement efforts, including mobilization campaigns when appropriate.
Develop successful industry-wide public affairs activities that will resonate with key stakeholders, including member companies, EEI partners, other associations, third-party experts, and the media.
Build relationships with member company public affairs executives.
Monitor, and offer insights on policy developments, industry and market dynamics, and media coverage impacting member companies and the industry with the ability to translate these developments into actionable communications and engagement strategies.
Partner with media teams on communication campaigns to ensure consistent messaging.
Manage the day-to-day work of EEI's public affairs consultants and EEI's Senior Manager of Public Affairs.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree, preferably in communications or related field. Master's degree preferred. In addition:
15+ years of experience in public affairs, government affairs, journalism, media relations, and/or digital communications.
Has a broad understanding of the goals of the organization and the industry and how their portfolio of expertise impacts overall industry goals/objectives.
Strong understanding of legislative and regulatory processes
Proven ability to build credibility and influence with senior leaders and external partners, as well as relationship management and coalition building.
Possesses sound judgment, political acumen, ability to navigate complex issues with discretion.
Ability to operate in dynamic and high-visibility environment.
Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.

COMPENSATION

* 5 or more years of experience is required. An NQA-1 Certified Lead Auditor certification is desirable.
