Edison State Community College was founded in 1973.
Edison State Community College was chartered in 1973 under provisions of the Ohio Revised Code as the first general and technical college in Ohio.
From modest beginnings in a rented facility, the college has grown in stages to its current campus. Its enrollment and offerings have grown steadily during its brief forty-year history, from 309 students enrolled in 30 courses in 1973 to more than 3,000 students enrolled today.
Edison State collaborated with the Edison & Ford Estates to bring the Thomas Edison Black Maria Film Festival to Fort Myers for the first time since the festival began touring nationally in 1981.
Edison State Community College was founded in 1973. It first offered distance learning courses in 1987.
Originally housed in a rented facility, the Wagner Avenue location was opened in 2001 and officially became the Darke County Campus to better reflect the range of student services and enrollment opportunities available to area residents.
2002 Edison adopted as Master Action Plan for the next decade.
2005 graduates of the College's accredited Radiologic Technology Program achieve a 100% pass rate on all national certification examinations.
Completed extensive remodeling across the district, including a $7 million renovation of the Richard H. Rush Library at the Lee Campus, dedicated in January of 2009.
Two officers were sworn in at the May 2009 meeting of the District Board of Trustees.
Through the HOPE Scholar Program, the College, in conjunction with the Edison State College Foundation, distributed more than $800,000 in 2011-12 to 325 promising, low-income, first-generation-in-college students.
Implemented the Cornerstone Experience course as part of the College's Quality Enhancement Plan, serving 217 students in the first cohort in Spring of 2012.
