The Digital Editorial team sits within National Geographic Media's Editorial team, and oversees digital content creation, publishing, and distribution on both owned-and-operated and third-party platforms. The team leads in executing strategic goals laid out by both editorial and business stakeholders.

The Digital Editorial Director is responsible for leading long-term strategy and daily decision making for the digital content team, creating explanatory content that fulfills National Geographic's mission while using proven tactics to drive results through journalistic storytelling.

* Oversee and direct National Geographic's digital explainer and reference coverage by identifying and developing content that drives email acquisition. He/She/They will be responsible for the story selection, publishing cadence, and timely delivery of content created for scannable and quick-read mobile consumption.
* Manage a small team of data-driven content creators that can predict results based on historical learnings, embrace testing, and iterate on an evolving strategy. Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:

Basic Qualifications:

A strong background in writing, editing, and digital operations, with a broad knowledge of search engine optimization and social platforms, are musts. Other skills required for this role are:

Employment Status: Administrative

Description of Key Responsibility:

Note that all functions described below must be performed, and it is normally the responsibility of the individual in this position to perform them and/or see that they are performed.

1. Oversee and participate in the creation, development and use of strategic content that supports the College's mission, vision, values and brand platform.

2. Lead the effort to plan, edit and produce the North Central College Magazine with a focus on engaging editorial content that advances the strategic goals of the College.

3. Monitor campus news sources and builds and maintain relationships with College faculty, staff and students to learn about potential news stories.
