Job Summary:
The Coding Educator and Auditor plays a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with coding and documentation requirements while serving as the primary point of contact for payer audit requests. This position is responsible for conducting provider education, performing chart audits, and maintaining accurate records of audit findings. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work independently while collaborating with providers, coders, and billing teams to ensure consistent compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Serve as the primary liaison for payer audit requests, ensuring timely responses and accurate documentation.
• Stay current with coding and documentation requirements, adhering to HIPAA and Medicare guidelines.
• Provide ICD-10 and CPT training and education to physicians, coders, billers, and office staff.
• Coordinate the dissemination of chart audit findings and educate providers and staff on areas for improvement.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of audit findings and education.
• Prepare and deliver reports to the financial stakeholders and providers, highlighting audit results and trends.

• Review provider charts using EMR software, with the ability to audit at least 8 charts per hour.
• Benchmark audit findings against national average bell curves and provide detailed reports within 48 hours of chart review.

The faculty member for Fall 2026 will teach for Fairfield University at our Florence, Italy Center in the jointly developed Providence College Elementary and Special Education Program. The instructor will teach up to two sections of the language and literacy course in English for American university undergraduates from Providence College; will cooperate with the Florence Program Director and other faculty and staff involved in the administration of the Program; and will conduct practicum observations of the pre-service teachers in the Florence public schools. The class sections are limited to approximately 10 students per section. The person in this position will also be responsible for conducting Site Visits to Practicum placements for site observation of preservice teachers in the local schools. As the local school system begins classes at the end of September, the site visits take place mid-October and again in mid-November.
This position is based in Florence, Italy and requires a minimum commitment of mid-August through mid-December 2026. A stipend, housing, international health insurance and round trip travel to Italy are included.

Language and Literacy, 3 credits
This course is designed to provide knowledge and skills needed to teach literacy (reading and writing) and social studies with a primary focus on grades 3-6. There is also a practicum experience aligned to this course. Since the practicum experience will be taking place in English as a foreign language classes in Italian elementary schools this course has an emphasis on second language acquisition and its role in literacy development. This course builds on the knowledge gained in teaching literacy in K-2 classrooms (EDU 231) and knowledge of language development (EDU 125). This course is comparable to Providence College's course Methods and Materials in Teaching Language Arts and Social Studies (EDU 331: Literacy 2).

This practicum offers field experience aligned with both the

courses. Students spend four hours a week in elementary schools in the greater Florence area and teach EFL lessons. Responsibilities:
Work with students who are in a Preschool Program providing individualized lessons which target goals from the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) / Individualized Educational Plan (IEP).
Develop creative and multi-sensory lessons based on the IEP goals and report progress toward these goals.
Collect meaningful information on IEP goals and report quarterly on child's progress with IEP goals.
Ongoing communication with supervisors and multidisciplinary team.
Maintain accurate attendance and submit electronic billing daily.
Attend professional development trainings to maintain best practice approach and continue personal development.
Maintain professionalism with parents, teachers, and other professionals.
Attend IEP meetings.
