    Akronschools

Educator Job 20 miles from Buffalo

Dear ACS Families, I want to take a moment to share information about a situation at the Elementary School. A student reported hearing comments made by another elementary student that referenced acts of school violence. Thanks to the timely and responsible actions of an individual who brought this matter to our attention, we were able to respond swiftly. Working in partnership with the Akron Police Department, school administration, and the families involved, we conducted a thorough investigation. After careful review, it was determined that there is no credible threat to our school. This is an important opportunity to highlight the value of open communication. We encourage parents and guardians to talk with their children about the impact their words and actions can have, as well as the importance of speaking up when something feels concerning. Any statement involving violence is taken seriously, and every report will be thoroughly and promptly addressed. In the coming days, our Elementary Principals will visit classrooms in their building to share this message in an age-appropriate manner. We are incredibly grateful to those who brought this matter to our attention. Your actions remind us all of the strength of our community and the importance of the "See Something, Say Something" principle in keeping our schools safe. Together, we create a culture of awareness and responsibility that benefits everyone. I understand that news like this can be unsettling and may create feelings of worry or anxiety. Please know that the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and faculty are always our top priority. If you have any questions, concerns, or additional information to share, please do not hesitate to contact school administration. We are here to support and assist you in any way we can.
