Job Description
1. PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE
a. In collaboration with the Nursing Leader in area of practice and Executive Director of Education, Training and Leadership Development oversees and monitors the effectiveness of care at the unit level.
b. Acts as an expert consultant to clinical nurses to optimize the effectiveness of care in achieving the desired patient outcomes.
c. Assists in the development of hospital and nursing policies, procedures, guidelines and order sets specific to the practice specialty.
d. Identifies ethical issues in nursing practice and guides staff and other providers in problem resolution by facilitating direct resolution or engaging the Ethics Consultation Service
e. Identifies and meets nursing care needs of patients and their families by integrating knowledge of the disease process into clinical practice.
e. Organizes combined meetings with orientees, preceptors and the nurse manager to review orientation process, provide timely feedback to the new staff member and address opportunities for improvement.
f. Provides consultation to the Nurse Leader relative to learning and practice related issues including the development of staff member specific learning management plans.
3. EDUCATION
a. Performs an annual educational needs assessment for the department or area of responsibility
b. Develops unit based/service based educational programs based on needs assessment
c. Coordinates new product, policy and procedure inservices on all shifts
d. Coordinates and assists with the presentation of mandatory education as evidenced by staff member completion percentages.
e. Responds to and maintains a flexible approach to newly identified educational needs.
f. Provides continuing educational programming for staff with in the unit, department and organization.
4 - Trauma Program Responsibility
a - Works in collaboration with members of the trauma program, physicians, departments managers, and administration at SSH to achieve hospital goals
b - Maintains knowledgeable of ACS Trauma Center Criteria
c - Collaborates with the Trauma Medical Director and Trauma Program Manager to achieve the clinical criteria and administrative activities necessary, to ensure successful verification by the American College of Surgeons for Level II Trauma Center Designation
d - Assists in preparation and participates in the American College of Surgeons site visits
e - Assists and participates in the Trauma Program Operational Process. May include preparing, minutes, reporting, and follow-up
f - Works with the Trauma Medical Director and Trauma Program Manager to further develop and advance the trauma program.
g - Assists with trauma program administrative tasks as needed and requested
h - Assists in the development of hospital and trauma policies, procedures, guidelines, processes and order sets specific to trauma practice and care
5. TECHNOLOGY
a. Demonstrates proficiency in the use of the EHR and other business applications used in clinical areas.

General Statement of Duties: Outreach and recruit injection drug users and their sexual and drug using partners, sex workers, sexual and drug using partners of those who are HIV positive, and other individuals with high risk HIV/STI/HCV behaviors using the Harm Reduction Philosophy. Provide risk reduction counseling and recommend appropriate screening services for those recruited, including HIV/STI/HCV screenings. Screen and provide appropriate risk reduction counseling for those at high risk for opioid overdose. Enroll appropriate individuals in the Nasal Narcan pilot. Strategies include group level and individual level interventions. Network with community groups and agencies as needed to advance the prevention/education models that are implemented.
Responsibilities :
Identify, engage and recruit individuals whose injection drug use and commercial sex work put them at highest risk for HIV/STI/HCV infection. Identify individuals whose opioid use puts them at high risk for an opioid overdose. Identify bystanders to opioid use who may be present during an overdose.
Work with the team to develop strategies for providing HIV/STI/HCV prevention, education, counseling and testing and opioid overdose prevention to identified populations.

Collect specimens (via venous blood draw, finger stick, and/or urine specimen) for HIV/STI/HCV antibody tests from individuals who feel that they are at risk and send and/or transport specimen as appropriate to the State Laboratory.

Initiate and conduct follow-up activities to assess implication of services provided and the impact those services have on clients.

Develop curriculum and conduct training for new and existing staff on the GE Centricity system for Patient Service Representatives, Call Center Representatives, Referral Specialists, Patient Accounts Representatives, Clinical Coordinators and Community Health Worker staff and other departments as requested.
Develop and maintain detailed policy and procedure manuals (electronic and paper) including functional flow diagrams for all patient revenue cycle functions and ensure training is conducted for all changes and/or updates.

In collaboration with Human Resources, rolls out training schedule for the year in coordination with new hire schedule.

Ongoing work with the IS department on resolving issues for insurance eligibility via Centricity.
Designated CAC (Certified Application Counselor) lead trainer for the MA Health Care Connector for all PSR's, PSS and CSS staff. Coordinates online certification training with the state including notification of terminations. Communicates changes and regulatory updates to all CAC's. Updates all MH applications, forms and FAQ on Connect

Experience with computerized billing Systems, knowledge of GE Centricity PM preferable.
