Position Summary
Zuni Public School District (ZPSD) has received a grant award from New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) to hire Educator Fellows to work with our students. The goals of the Educator Fellows Program are to:
Create a new teacher/educator pipeline for schools in New Mexico.
Improve adult to student ratios in classrooms as the state recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Educator Fellows Program will provide critical hands-on experiences in the education field. This two-year fellowship is ideal for individuals who enjoy interacting with youth from diverse populations in a school setting, have good communication skills, are flexible, want to make a positive difference in the lives of young people and have a desire to become a certified teacher in New Mexico.
Essential Functions
The Educator Fellow will assist a mentor teacher to:
Provide instructional support services under the direct supervision of a highly qualified teacher.
Assist Mentor Teacher with program content and maintain open communication with both the Mentor Teacher and Educator Fellows Program Director.
Consult and assist with Mentor Teacher on a continuous basis regarding program content and progress of students.
Plan individualized targeted instruction to students in the areas of reading and math either in a small group or 1 to 1 setting with the collaboration of Mentor Teacher.
Deliver individualized targeted instruction to students in subject areas such as reading and math either in a small group or 1 to 1 setting.
Consult with Mentor Teacher in tracking student progress monitoring and planning of interventions.
Maintain current and accurate records as required.
Participate in all required/appropriate site/district professional development.
Complete micro courses and professional development series on various topics to include but not limited to classroom management, math intervention, reading intervention, high intensity tutoring strategies, and cultural and linguistically responsive teaching and learning.

Participate in regular coaching and feedback sessions.

Successful Educator Fellow candidates will receive a 1-year temporary employment contract with the Zuni Public School District for the 2022-2023 school year. The contract term may be subject to change based on NMPED funding and/or satisfactory job performance. A temporary employment contract will be given for one school year at a time and then be renewed for a second school year pending satisfactory job performance and meeting NMPED Educator Fellows program requirements.
Please note there is no guarantee that the Educator Fellow will be hired as a full time ZPSD employee at the end of the fellowship period.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: * Maintains a deep and broad understanding of the region encompassed by Southeastern New Mexico, its prehistory, history and modern influences on society.
* Plans and conducts tours of the Museum and special exhibits for both children and adults.
* Develops relationships with school officials, teachers and the public to inform them of educational resources available through the Museum.
* Maintains positive interactions with schools, groups and the public.
* Creates educational content, including articles and lesson plans, for the weekly e-newsletter and the website.
* Builds, maintains and promotes the Museum traveling trunk program.
* Manages educational programs, budgets, contracts, schedules and calendars.
* Develops educational programs of talks, activities, events and workshops around exhibitions or in response to particular themes or festivals.
* Delivers talks, workshops and activities in partnership with storytellers, historians, authors, artists, etc.
* Schedules, plans and implements on-site educational programs for school groups, special interest groups and adult groups as requested.
* Develops and maintains educational content for the Museum permanent exhibits and traveling exhibits (as needed), including, but not limited to, iPads, touchscreens, labels and text panels.
* Plans and executes LCCHF events: Staked Plains Roundup.
* Maintains the Museum volunteer program, providing supervision, training and scheduling.
* Hires and supervises the Museum Education Assistant, a position funded annually by the J.F Maddox Foundation.
* Maintains and works with an Educational Committee.
* Looks for ways to continually make the Museum relevant and accessible.
* Participates in a process of continual personal and professional improvement.
* Reports to the Executive Director of the Museum
* Actively participates in the institutional goals and objectives designed to support the mission of the college.
* Serves on college committees as assigned.
* Performs other duties as assigned or required.
* Nothing contained herein shall limit the President in assigning the employee to any of the various college activities for which he/she would be qualified in order to meet the needs of New Mexico Junior College.
Qualifications
* Associate's degree required.
* Bachelor's degree in history, museum studies, education, or related field preferred.
* Three (3) years of experience in museum education, education, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Additionally provide services to clients who self-report or are identified as students of concern who exhibit mental or behavioral health distress, including but not limited to signs of depression, suicidal ideation, or crisis.
Duties And Responsibilities
Provide survivor-centered and trauma informed crisis intervention, thorough intakes, safety planning, and assessment and follow-up services to NMHU campus; Work collaboratively with existing mental/behavioral health specialists, law enforcement, and advocacy groups on campus and in the community; Develop and promote diverse and inclusive educational programming; specifically bystander intervention, enthusiastic consent, healthy dating relationships and suicide prevention, etc.; Ensure ethical boundaries, decision making and advocacy standards are adhered to; Be open to feedback and change in response to client and team's needs; Educate clients of campus resources, processes, and their rights; Educate clients about the basic processes of legal system and campus disciplinary process; File complaints, protective orders, compensation claims for clients, etc.; Field crisis calls and walk in clients; Ensure safety/confidentiality of clients; Be on call for crisis situations; Provide survivor-centered services to clients individually and in groups, ensuring autonomy and unconditional support; Assist clients in exploring various options, and the possible outcomes based on their choices; Provide information regarding available community resources; Conduct one on one individual advocacy sessions with clients and manage case work; Facilitate group meetings, discussions with project partners, community allies, and campus personnel; Create and present general or topic specific accurate educational programs to the campus community; Lead trainings for campus programs, residents, and teams on dating and domestic violence, sexual violence, stalking, empowerment, suicide prevention and bystander intervention, etc.; Schedule and coordinate presentations with campus entities; Design and revise program literature and materials as needed; Facilitate communication/teamwork among staff; Review and update logs, client files, case review notes and provide on-going case management; Attend and participate in staffing and team meetings; Attend professional development trainings; Cross train with advocates in other specialty areas; Provide guidance/training to campus and community partner, volunteers, and students; Handle related administrative responsibilities; Record/log all client contact(s) using ADVOCATE system; Report monthly/quarterly statistics; Solicit evaluations (pre and post surveys) following programs; Maintain necessary supplies; Perform professional responsibilities; Keep abreast of current information topic areas; Network with federal, state and local agencies, exchanging relevant information and community activities; Use social media platforms to promote and create awareness, as well as other outlets such as radio or newspaper; Coordinate special program projects; Oversee student employees; Maintain regular attendance; Perform related duties as assigned.
