Job Summary: The Coding Educator and Auditor plays a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with coding and documentation requirements while serving as the primary point of contact for payer audit requests. This position is responsible for conducting provider education, performing chart audits, and maintaining accurate records of audit findings. Key Responsibilities: • Serve as the primary liaison for payer audit requests, ensuring timely responses and accurate documentation. • Stay current with coding and documentation requirements, adhering to HIPAA and Medicare guidelines. • Provide ICD-10 and CPT training and education to physicians, coders, billers, and office staff. • Coordinate the dissemination of chart audit findings and educate providers and staff on areas for improvement. • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of audit findings and education. • Prepare and deliver reports to the financial stakeholders and providers, highlighting audit results and trends. • Regularly update coding and documentation manuals to reflect current standards. • Develop and implement quarterly audit compliance monitoring activities. • Review provider charts using EMR software, with the ability to audit at least 8 charts per hour. • Benchmark audit findings against national average bell curves and provide detailed reports within 48 hours of chart review. • Proactively seek opportunities for skill development and continued learning. • Provide backup support for surgical coding and charge entry as needed.
