SHC is accepting applications for housekeepers. Requirements Candidates must be 18 years old and possess at a minimum, an eighth-grade education. One year of housekeeping/laundry experience is required. Experience working in long-term care, behavioral health, and/or geriatric health is preferred. Still, we are more than happy to train those interested in serving our special populations.
Job Summary
Qualified candidates require the ability to perform daily housekeeping/laundry tasks as assigned including, but not limited to, the following:
Clean/dust/polish furnishings and fixtures in rooms and assigned common areas.
Clean, wash, sanitize/polish bathroom fixtures.
Sweep, dust, mop, strip, wax, buff, and disinfect floors. Ensure that appropriate caution/safety signs are properly set up to perform such tasks.
Wash, wipe dust and clean all walls and ceilings, and non-carpeted floors.
Discard trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacles with a plastic liner.
Work with patients to maintain their living area in a safe and clean condition.
Clean and maintain housekeeping equipment.
Ensure that work areas are clean and equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored at all times.
Follow policies and procedures regarding universal precautions and perform all infection control housekeeping/laundry tasks in accordance with such procedures.

Perform terminal cleaning procedures, as instructed, when a resident is discharged, and/or transferred to another room/area.
Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of two years of high school.
Ability to work in a health care and Continuing Care Retirement Community environment.
Ability to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
Ability to lift, push, pull, and move equipment/supplies a minimum of fifty (50) pounds throughout the work day.
Ability to bend, turn, reach over head and below knees throughout work day.
Ability to stand and walk 80% of the work day.
Ability to see and hear or use prosthetics adequately so that the tasks of this position can be fully met, to include the use of supplies and equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides housekeeping services in resident rooms, vacant rooms, and general building areas under the direction of the Director of Housekeeping, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
Clean floors to include sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, disinfecting, stripping, waxing, buffing, etc.
Performs routine and deep cleaning duties including trash removal, bathroom sanitation, floor and carpet care, surface cleaning, window/mirror cleaning, and terminal cleaning of rooms.
Uses approved cleaning products and equipment safely and correctly; maintains accountability for assigned equipment and supplies.
Maintains cleanliness of hallways, stairs, elevators, and common areas as assigned.
Follows verbal and written work assignments and completes daily tasks within established schedules.
Provides services in a manner that protects resident privacy, dignity, confidentiality, personal choice, and autonomy.
Responds promptly and courteously to resident requests; communicates positively with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers.
Observes and reports changes in resident condition, safety hazards, maintenance issues, and resident incidents to appropriate staff.
Follows all organizational and departmental safety, infection control, sanitation, and hand hygiene policies and procedures.
Participates in required training, staff meetings, and staff development programs.
Serves as a team player and departmental resource by assisting coworkers and supporting department operations.
Maintains professional appearance, hygiene, and conduct in accordance with organizational policies.

Responsibilities:
* Cleans and maintains patient rooms, offices, public areas, treatment rooms, and other assigned areas daily, including collecting and removing trash, changing bed linens, and sanitizing all surfaces.
* Follows policies and procedures on patient isolation and contact precautions as necessary.
* Stocks paper items and other supplies in assigned areas as necessary or designated.
* Maintains cart and equipment in clean, working condition and stores in appropriate storage area
* Promotes safety in the workplace. Uses wet floor signs, PPE, not leaving housekeeping cart or supplies unattended.
* Uses chemicals and equipment in an effective and safe manner. Uses appropriate chemicals, diluted at the correct ratio, in properly labeled containers.

Operate and maintain various cleaning equipment, such as automatic scrubbers, floor buffers, carpet extractors, and steam cleaners.
Perform advanced cleaning procedures, including terminal cleaning, deep cleaning of patient care areas, and specialized floor care tasks such as stripping, waxing, and buffing.
Clean and sanitize high-touch surfaces, including bed rails, light switches, door handles, and medical equipment, to prevent the spread of infection.

Cleans and maintains patient rooms, offices, public areas, treatment rooms, and other assigned areas daily, including collecting and removing trash, changing bed linens, and sanitizing all surfaces.
Follows policies and procedures on patient isolation and contact precautions as necessary.
Stocks paper items and other supplies in assigned areas as necessary or designated.
Maintains cart and equipment in clean, working condition and stores in appropriate storage area
Promotes safety in the workplace. Uses wet floor signs, PPE, not leaving housekeeping cart or supplies unattended.
Uses chemicals and equipment in an effective and safe manner. Uses appropriate chemicals, diluted at the correct ratio, in properly labeled containers.

* Implements housekeeping procedures to meet residents' needs in compliance with department procedures, Fairhaven policies and federal, state and local regulations
* Stocks supplies on carts and in assigned store rooms throughout the building
* Cleans and organizes resident rooms, public areas and duplexes following proper procedures applicable to area of facility/campus assigned
* Notifies supervisor when supplies are needed, equipment needs repair, and when facilities need further maintenance beyond housekeeping responsibilities
* Follows facility safety procedures and Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
* Works in other areas of Support Services and assists other departments as assigned, including occasionally working different shifts as needed including weekends
* Responds as needed in the event of an emergency
* Reports unusual resident conditions to supervisor
* Participates in creating an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity, cleanliness, safety and well-being of each resident
