1947

1947 Leadership of the Nietz family business is passed to Emil’s son, Don Nietz.

1958

1958 Egan & Sons Air Conditioning Company is created, marking the first diversification effort of the business

1960

1960: Egan moves its longtime office from Bond Avenue to Winter Street and adds plumbing to its services.

1960 Egan-McKay Electrical formed

1968

1968: Grand Rapids Public Schools builds Union High School, the first in decades, and Egan provides mechanical services.

1974

1974 Egan Companies become the first to form an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) in Minnesota

1979

1979 Nietz Business Repositions Boat and snowmobile business sold to another local family and still operates today as Al’s Specialty Marine.

1982

1982: Egan is the mechanical contractor on an iconic downtown project, the Amway Tower.

1985

1985: Egan’s service division takes off, and the company begins expanding its services.

1985 Egan joins Alliance for Contracting Excellence (ACE) peer group

1989

Originally the Minneapolis Auditorium, the Convention Center was constructed in 1989, with Egan providing mechanical services on the project.

1997

1997: Egan’s engineering department is established and begins offering Design-Build and Design-Assist services for projects such as the JW Marriott.

1998

Egan moves its office to Waldorf Court, but by 1998 has grown large enough to construct a new building on nearby Waldorf Street.

1998 InterClad brand developed InterClad brand developed offering design, fabrication, and installation of curtain wall/cladding and glass systems.

1999

1999: Egan opens a fabrication shop in its current building, expanding twice to support new work.

2001

2001: Having provided services to most of the buildings that shape the Grand Rapids skyline, Egan is the mechanical contractor on another iconic downtown project, the DeVos Convention Center.

2001 Egan Service Formed Service capabilities of all groups consolidate to form Egan Service.

2003

2003 Consolidation into one corporate office in Brooklyn Park

2004

2004: An acquisition adds a service and controls division, which includes an office in Kalamazoo.

2008

2008: Work begins on Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, Egan’s largest project ever.

2009

2009: The company completes its largest BIM project to date, the Van Andel Institute Phase II.

2010

2010: Egan Food Technologies is founded as a sister company that offers food processing equipment.

2015

2015 Acquisition of Kestner Electric (Austin) further expanding presence in Southern Minnesota

2016

2016 Expansion/consolidation of metro offices

2017

Nietz Electric repositions due to Southern Minnesota growth; further integrates operations as Egan Company Egan Company named a 2017 Star Tribune Top Workplace

2019

2019: Egan celebrates the company's 100th anniversary with the Egan $100k Community Giveaway, which provides ten $10,000 donation to West Michigan nonprofits.
