Even as an early entrepreneur, Steve never followed a traditional path. While most kids have lemonade stands, Steve had a green house. To support his model rocket hobby, Steve sold spice sets door to door when he was 12. He obtained a work permit at age 14 for a job at a pet store - and never looked back. By 18, Steve launched his first business, an aquarium store specializing in exotic fish, purchasing their inventory directly from collectors around the world. This was unheard of at the time, but even this early business venture highlighted what would become a hallmark of his career: trailblazing. Steve moved on to build a very successful distributorship for himself, and by the age of 30, he co-founded and launched Youngevity International with his Wife, Michelle, offering dietary supplements and health and wellness products. Now, with over 30 years of experience in direct sales, and 25 years leading Youngevity, Steve has nurtured the company into an international powerhouse within the Direct Selling Association (DSA) industry. Spearheading and popularizing a new acquisition model, Steve created an innovative paradigm in direct sales: the ability to merge products, sales force and cultures instead of just absorbing and rebranding them. These efforts helped Youngevity earn distinction as one of the Top 100 Direct Selling companies, and Steve was asked to serve on the Board of Directors for the DSA.Widely regarded as one of the leading formulators in the industry, Steve has been personally responsible for the development of over 1,000 products, with sales in excess of $1.5 Billion in health related consumer goods. As a hands-on CEO, he's secured multiple patents and trademarks for his innovations, petitioned the FDA on behalf of the general public, and is equally at home leading an organization of Independent Distributors as he is formulating products. He's taken Youngevity from a start-up to ringing the opening bell at NASDAQ. His visionary ability has led the company to pivot as needed with both challenges and opportunities.
