Assist in operations, under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel. Help set up operating room, prepare and transport patients for surgery, adjust lights and equipment, pass instruments and other supplies to surgeons and surgeons' assistants, hold retractors, cut sutures, and help count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments.
Required Skills
1. Ability to follow oral instruction, read and write
2. Must be able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form.
3. Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic technique in relation to the procedure and the operating field.
4. Must possess extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
5. Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multitask.
6. Demonstrates the ability to provide preoperative safety measures.
7. Demonstrates the ability to provide intraoperative skills such as visualization, trocar insertion, hemostasis, issue handling, placement and securing the wound drains and closure of body planes.
8. Must have the ability to work independently or co-dependently with the surgeon.
