  • DHSS/DMH Wellness Liaison

    20 hr per week 1040 hr per year Salary $40,301.00 annually BASIC FUNCTION: Under general supervision, the DHSS/DMH Wellness Liaison serves as a liaison between Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) and the Department of Mental Health (DMH) and Local Public Health Agencies (LPHAs) for the purpose of carrying out the mental wellness activities and milestones in the CDC Strengthening US Public Health Infrastructure, Workforce and Data Systems Grant (CDC-RFA-OE22-2203); performs a variety of supportive and clerical tasks; promotes involvement in Missouri Public Health Well-Being Playbook activities; refers LPHAs to community based and social services as appropriate; prepares and maintains related records and reports; performs related clerical duties as assigned. The following duties are examples of assignments performed by wellness liaisons. Job duties may include but are not limited to. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Serves as a liaison between the Departments of Mental Health and Health and Senior Services and Local Public Health Agencies; confers with employees regarding workforce well-being; collaborates with outside agencies and social service agencies; provides community resource referrals and information on available supplemental services to workforce; and prepares and maintains related records and reports. Communicates with workforce; promotes mental health and wellness education and involvement in Missouri Public Health Well-Being Playbook programs and other activities; facilitates participation in various activities; and resolves issues or concerns as needed. Assists in developing, implementing, and monitoring programs and activities LPHAs to promote workforce health and wellness; and plans and organizes activities related to mental health and wellness training. Provides information and associated materials to the workforce related to community services, social services, and local resources; refers workforce to local agencies or school services as appropriate; and follows-up on referrals. Initiates and receives a variety of telephone calls and provides information, makes contact with LPHAs; establishes and maintains a variety of files, logs, schedules, and records. Collaborates with LPHAs and other DMH and DHSS team members to encourage alignment, collaboration, and implementation of programs and services on site and across sites. Participates in and supports advisory group and wellness advisory board, to ensure LPHA voice is represented in the Missouri Public Health Well-Being Playbook, in collaboration with the DMH, DHSS and Learfield team. Assists with data entry, data utilization, and documentation for ongoing services, referrals, and programs. Creates and distributes newsletters, posters, forms and flyers; inputs and updates referral data and service data into an assigned computer software program. Develops partnerships with LPHAs and maintains ongoing contacts. Attends a variety of meetings, workshops, conferences and in-service trainings as assigned; coordinates and assists with trainings and activities. Operates a variety of office equipment including a copier, printer, scanner, a computer, assigned software and other office machines as assigned; drives a vehicle to various sites to conduct work. Performs clerical duties such as typing, answering telephones, copying materials, and preparing correspondence; prepares and maintains program-related records and reports. Inventories, orders, receives and distributes materials, supplies and equipment. OTHER DUTIES: Performs related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: LPHA objectives and functions. Awareness of multi-cultural communication. Operation of variety of office equipment including a computer and assigned software. Oral and written communications skills. Interpersonal relations skills using tact, patience and courtesy. Basic record-keeping, reporting, and filing techniques. Local community resources and social service agencies. ABILITY TO: Perform liaison duties between DHSS and DMH grant teams and LPHAs. Plan, organize, and implement activities and programs. Understand CDC Strengthening US Public Health Infrastructure, Workforce and Data Systems Grant (CDC-RFA-OE22-2203) objectives and functions. Communicate successfully in writing, in person or by telephone with diverse populations. Compose correspondence independently. Balance and prioritize a variety of work assignments. Provide community resources and referrals to LPHA agencies. Perform clerical duties such as filing and duplicating. Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action. Maintain records and files; provide reports. Communicate effectively orally and in writing. Type or input data at an acceptable rate of speed. Work independently with little direction. Plan and organize work. Meet schedules and timelines. Operate a variety of office equipment including a computer and assigned software. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: Graduation from high school, college-level coursework in education, counseling, psychology, social work, health professions or related field and three years of experience involving community service, social services, health services, public relations, or related field in an educational or health organization. Experience working with wellness is preferred. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid Missouri driver's license. WORKING CONDITIONS: ENVIRONMENT: Hybrid (remote/office) work environment occupying space primarily at DMH Central Office in Jefferson City. Indoor/outdoor and community-based environment. Driving a vehicle to conduct work. Some travel will be expected. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and on the telephone.
