Final assembly of synchronous, vertical, turbo generator and induction motors. Arc weld assemblies and sub-assemblies Set up and operate balance stand, large and Static Engraves and places name plates and green tags equipment Works in other areas of the Assembly Team skills matrix, may prepare and paint product, procure lumber, shipping cartons, shipping supplies and tools. May prepare and package shipments in boxes, skids/crates. Completes necessary QA/Customer documentation. Lift and move materials using forklift, pallet jack, overhead crane or jib crane. Minneapolis, Minnesota Coil Manufacturing - 1st Shift Team: Winding Sets up and operates coil winding machines and winds armature coils to meet all winding specifications. Major Areas of Accountability: Correct implementation of winding procedures found in the department procedural book #55 and #6. Employee is required to train to all procedures specified by departmental supervisor. Discipline of all shelf life material dates, both refrigerated and non-refrigerated per Work Instructions. Proper calibration of all measuring equipment used for insuring product quality. Must have the skills and abilities to use the required measuring equipment to meet the required primary objective of the position. Self-inspection is required to insure product quality. This includes operating strand testing equipment and performing repair shorts on coils. Must be able to work within the time limits established by the department supervisor for each job, while insuring that product quality and personal safety are being achieved. Reads blue prints and winding specifications. Straighten coils. Bending fingers on soft ½ coils prior to taping. Bending fingers on hard ½ coils will be performed by Armature Winding. Operates equipment utilized-power wire brush, hand stripping equipment and hydraulic presses. Tins all types of leads when required. Sets up and dishes coils with the aid of a hammer and template in any forming machine. Sets and dishes a heavier coil in cradles when required. Records machine settings on data sheets after samples have been checked and approved. Stack leads as required. Sets up and uses proper measuring equipment to check in-process work. Reads winding specifications, checks wire size, dimensions of coils, number of turns and total amount of magnet wire and bonding material required for the job. Obtains wire from stores and sets up coil winding machine, adjusting it for specified coil dimensions. Mounts reel of wire on stands and attaches end of wire to the winding machine. Starts machine, winds one coil, inserts bonding material and tapes to hold its shape for inspection and further processing. Winds complete order after approval by inspector. Adheres to all company-mandated rules and regulations. Requires minimum supervision. Performs to ISO 9001 Quality Standards and abides to OSHA and EPA Regulations. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: High School degree (required) with a 1 year of manufacturing experience (preferred). Minneapolis, MN Quality Tester - 2nd Shift Department: Quality Team Department Responsible for performing electrical tests on rotating electrical machines, verifying compliance with project specifications and standards, analyzing test deviations with the test analyst, proposing improvements when needed, and providing data to support continuous improvement and product quality assurance. Major Areas of Accountability: Receive rotating electrical machines from the Assembly Section, record their identification, and review relevant documents like production orders, engineering data sheets, and test specifications. Identify and set up required devices (couplings, flanges, keys, etc.), ensuring proper alignment with dynamometers or test machines for accurate and safe testing. Prepare rotating electrical machines for testing, ensuring proper identification, alignment, and setup with required devices and equipment. Perform electrical tests on rotating machines, record readings and calculations, evaluate results, and report any defects to the supervisor. Keep the test analyst informed, assist with special tests, and support customer inspections by helping address any issues. Prepare data sheets, test plans, and reports to meet customer requirements, using auxiliary testing equipment such as pony brakes, generators, voltmeters, ammeters, dynamometers, and high-pot equipment. Calibrate and maintain electrical test equipment, developing databases, standards, work instructions, and procedures. Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, OSHA, and EPA regulations while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Education and Experience: Technical degree in Electronics, Electrotechnical, or Electromechanical. Knowledge of the manufacturing process and testing of rotating electrical machines and measuring instruments for industrial electronic application Ability to communicate and present detailed, technical initiatives to non-technical people. Self-motivated individual with strong decision-making abilities, comfortable working in a team. Minneapolis, MN Welder - 2nd shift Team: Fabrication Team A Welder is responsible for setting up, fabricating and welding complex parts using various welding processes. A Welder works with a high degree of detail adhering to safety and quality standards. Major Areas of Accountability: Set up and fabricate a wide variety of components using various welding processes, primarily FCAW and GMAW. Use oxygen-acetylene, oxygen-natural gas, plasma arc and carbon-arc equipment to heat, straighten, trim and bevel ferrous and non-ferrous material. Read drawings and routings to determine method, sequence of operation, position, tolerances and welding specifications, to include proper filler materials, fluxes and weld machine settings. Make all necessary layouts and setups using proper tools and fabricating equipment. Uses portable electric or air driven grinding or chipping equipment. Perform self-inspection and documentation of welded components. Provide feedback on rejected welded components, and may determine disposition of rework for rejection report.
