Job Description: Ambrosia Labs is seeking multiple highly skilled and motivated Laser / Optical Physicists, Electrical / Mechanical Engineers, and Mathematicians to help in the prototyping of Bio-Sensors and data models using technologies and components relevant to Ocean life detection instruments to be used in other worlds(e.g. microfluidic analyzers, MEMS chromatography/mass spectrometers, laser ablation mass spectrometry, fluorescence microscopic imager, Raman spectrometer, tunable laser system, liquid chromatography/mass spectrometer, X-ray fluorescence, digital holographic microscope-fluoresce microscopes, Antibody microarray biosensor, Nanocantilever bio detector etc.). The selected candidates will form part of a cross-functional team tasked with incredibly difficult moonshot objectives that include mathematical modeling, numerical simulation, digital filtering, system and state estimation and control algorithms to develop newly advanced controllers in mobility and energy storage systems for Underwater Autonomous Exploration Vehicles. The work will require strong theoretical knowledge and hands-on implementation capability on embedded systems, data telemetry, acoustic communications, energy storage, and mechanical or long-range navigation systems. We are in search of bold, curious, and dedicated Scientists who yearn to dive into the unknown, question everything, and never lose their sense of wonder. To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below The successful candidate will have an MS or Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or Aerospace Engineering. In lieu of an MS degree, a BS degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics or Aerospace Engineering with 3 to 5 years of directly related experience in space systems analysis will be considered. They must have demonstrated good written and communication skills, a disposition to be part of a functionally diverse team, endless curiosity, and a “NO FEAR” mentality. Experience with MATLAB, C, Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks, UNIX, Python or Java encouraged. Experience with C++ and XML are useful. Additional Requirements: Must have relevant experience working in a research and development laboratory environment. Must be able to produce publications in peer-reviewed journals and international conference proceedings. Ability to understand and abide by government safety rules and regulations. Ability to analyze data and write accurate, concise and readable test summary reports. Must be able to qualify for Secret Clearance from the U.S. Government. Additional Information: This role can be based out of Connecticut or San Francisco but the candidate may be able to work remotely based on team leader approval. With power surges, lightning strikes, evaluation of electrical components after a fire (wiring, control systems, panels, outlets, and appliances/equipment) HVAC units - repair vs. replace after storm/hail damage, cause of damage - wind/hail, improper maintenance, improper installation or product defect of boilers, chillers, pumps, plumbing and heating systems. What you'll do Performs engineering failure analysis; specifically, determining cause and of damage, causes of fire, electrocutions and equipment failures. Capable of performing site evaluations, field analysis, and assessments that include mechanical, electrical and/or plumbing systems. Provide evaluations for failures as a result of hail/wind damage, lightning strike damage, ause of damage - wind/hail, improper maintenance, improper installation or product defect of boilers, chillers, pumps, plumbing and heating systems., freeze events, machinery breakdown, wear and tear, general construction failures, and/or providing general recommendations for remediation and repair. Safely access roofs, attics & crawl spaces to photo document areas of interest. Identify and interview witnesses and/or other key parties involved. Prepare & submit findings and recommendations that can be used to resolve insurance claims or litigation matters. Qualifications Active Professional Engineering license(s) required Degree in Mechanical/Electrical engineering or similar field Well-versed in building materials, codes, construction methods & common modes of failure Ability to adhere to tight deadlines Availability to readily accept assignments and perform site inspection within 5-7 days Tech-savvy across multiple software platforms, tools / equipment & investigative techniques Outstanding written & verbal communications skills An analytical mind and strong problem-solving ability
