Position Summary As an Apprentice Electrician you are responsible for assisting electricians by performing basic unskilled tasks including digging, trenching, excavating, sawing, drilling, cutting, cleaning up the work area and other work as required. Apprentices are expected to take initiative, ask questions, learn the electrical trade, follow all local, state, federal, and company policies and regulations, and develop their skills. Follow engineering plans, drawings and instructions. Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations, and maintain a safe and clean work area and tools. Various other duties as required, directed, or assigned. Qualifications and Skills: 1-2+ years as journeyman electrician preferred. 1-2+ years experience in manufacturing environment a plus. Knowledge of all relevant national and local electrical codes pertaining to the aforementioned tasks. Generator experience with various voltages a plus. Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, and specifications, and to perform work therefrom or from other written or verbal instruction. May be required to pass employer performance tests or standard tests to meet certification standards. Must pass drug test. High school diploma or equivalent. Basic reading, math, and writing skills. Attention to detail and highly motivated. Ability to communicate and work well with others. Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve. Ability to work overtime on occasion. Possess appropriate tools to perform job duties. Physical Requirements: May frequently lift or move heavy weight material and work in difficult positions. Frequent mental and visual attention on an intermittent basis. Must be able to stoop, bend, kneel, lift, push and pull, work at heights, and in small tight spaces.
