POSITION SUMMARY:
The Instrumentation and Electrical Forman is responsible for planning, supervising, performing and coordinating all phases of installation, maintenance, repair and inspection of electrical systems and service work in new or remodeled facilities. Also responsible for planning the daily activities for crew of workers.

Support jobsite Superintendent to coordinate activities of individual projects
May perform related trade work as required

Complete ESRs for all employees with a change in job status (transfer, laid off, terminated)
Conduct regular performance reviews of crewmen
Manage up to six or more employees and Foreman

Train and mentor new workers
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
4 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
NCCER Certification/License (preferred)
Minimum 1 years of experience in electrical foreman role

ESR's Apprenticeship program develops a sustainable core workforce of journeypersons with the full body of on-the-job and trade knowledge necessary to fill vital workforce gaps. Our Apprenticeships provide employment, education and training of technical skills under the guidance of experienced journeyman and technical experts. Our structured program provides thoughtful opportunities for each apprentice to learn all the phases of a selected craft. This is done by focused tracking of assignments and classroom instruction that enables the apprentice to learn and demonstrate competence in the various job assignments within the trade. Our classroom curriculum meets the rigorous requirements of State of Washington Department of Labor & Industries. These college level classes are generally held on site after or before the apprentice's regular paid work hours. Classroom hours are unpaid and, on the apprentice's, own time. A normal academic load is about three hours of classroom instruction per week. Apprentices are required to maintain minimum cumulative average of 80% and failure of any course will result in removal from the program. Homework is assigned in each class and it is the responsibility of the apprentice to complete the assignments outside the normal workday.
What You will Do
Depending on the trade, apprentices (or pre-apprentices) will learn to build vessel structures, hull components, piping systems, machinery installations and alignments, and prepare surfaces for painting or structural welding. The exact functions and responsibilities will vary by trade, and cannot be enumerated for all trades in this posting. For illustration, however, Marine Pipefitters fabricate and install all the piping systems on the ship. Ship Fitter/ Fabricators fabricate and install the many pieces that make up the hull of the ship and install equipment foundations and miscellaneous structural pieces. Welders weld everything for the ships, including the hull, foundations on the ship, and miscellaneous items. The general description of each of our trades can be found on our web site. In addition to learning the trade, specific functions common to all apprenticeships include:

Job Description:
This position is responsible for the installation, repair, and hook-up of equipment for electrical services on a ship. The individual must have working knowledge of electrical theory and procedures and the ability to troubleshoot and repair shipboard electrical systems and equipment (600 V and less) in accordance with specifications and drawings. The qualifications and general capabilities listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability desired by the shipyard.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Must possess the skill sets of subordinate grades of the labor class.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Must comply with OSHA standards and the shipyards best safety practices. --Must be physically and medically capable to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) required for the job as prescribed under OSHA standards. PPE includes hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe shoes, goggles, respirator, safety harness, safety line, flotation gear, etc.)
-Arrive at the designated work site at the assigned time and end the shift as directed by the schedule and your supervisor. Personnel are accountable for completion of daily work assignments.
-Keep your work area clean and safe at all times, especially at the end of the shift.
-Understand relevant work processes, operation of equipment, and complete tasks proficiently.

Work Tasks Include:
1. Running cables, lines and leads, terminations/connector fabrication, packing of cable transits and harnessing cables aboard vessels.
2. Prepares work area, drills holes, grinds metal surfaces, inspect and reports on cableway and electrical equipment conditions, tests and reports results on electrical equipment.
3. Test internal circuits of major units of electrical equipment for continuity, short circuits, and grounds and measure electrical quantities and compare with established values.
4. Inspect trip shafts, toggle linkages and all other mechanical parts to see that they operate freely without binding.
5. Inspect mechanical and electrical connections including mounting bolts and screws; draw out disconnect devices and control wiring.
6. Detect and locate grounds, open circuits and short circuits in distribution generators and systems. Maintain and repair telephones, circuits, and associated equipment.
7. Install new power and lighting circuits.
8. Must be familiar with all safety procedures pertaining to or where to obtain electrical procedures. Must be very knowledgeable of work/safety procedures and manual.
9. Implement Lock-out Tag-out for work being performed.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
-The working environment in the shipyard varies from a normal office conditions to working outside where precipitation, wind, extreme cold, and extreme heat and high humidity are not unusual. When working inside of vessels the environment may be smoky, hot or cold, and have low levels of illumination may be present.
-There are heavy equipment and power tools operating almost at every location. Depending on the type of work available, reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the job requirements.
-Personnel can expect to work in a variety of spaces from confined areas accessible only by manholes to high platforms accessible only by scaffolding or ladders. Work may also be accomplished using mechanical lifts as working platforms.
-The noise level in the shipyard environment is usually loud, especially inside of vessels. The noise encountered in the shop is generally low to moderate. ---The wearing of appropriate personal protective equipment is mandatory.

Our Electricians run a lot of cable. You will help wire up the entire boat and all of its systems. Custom yachts can have 100+ unique systems that all need power and our Electricians run all of this cable. It is a mixture of residential, commercial and industrial electrical work.
