Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
The purpose of this position is:
Provide electrical maintenance support for manufacturing operations and facilities.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Providing electrical / controls support to facilities equipment.
Performing troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems including but not limited to motors, starters, fans, pumps, UPS, VFDs, PLC controls, fire alarm systems, generators, breakers, and medium voltage power distribution equipment.
Calibrating and troubleshooting digital and analog instrumentation.
Providing technical assistance to project teams.
Helping monitor and optimize facilities processes.
Required Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:
Certified or Licensed Electrician.
This position requires a strong electrical background. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to read and interpret blueprints, block diagrams, piping diagrams, ladder, logic, schematic diagrams, electrical power distribution diagrams, P&ID, loop, sheets, and motor elementary drawings.
Successful completion of plant electrical assessment process.
Some familiarity with Dashboard, PI, or SPC.
Candidate must be willing to work alternating shifts, including nights/weekends/holidays.
Required Education/Experience:
High school or GED
A two-year electrical or electronics degree with a minimum of two years of electrical.
industrial experience.
Electrical License and/or Electrical Certifications.
2-5 years of electrical experience.
Preferred Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:
Experience with Computer / PLC controls, HMI, & associated components.

Electrical contractor's license, NFPA70e electrical safety certified, experience with wire pulling/conduit bending.
Working Conditions:
Exposure to fumes, noise, oil, dirt, heat and cold temperatures.
At times must be able to exert a force of 36 to 100 pounds and lift 5 to 50 pounds.
Ability to use ladders and work at heights above 6 feet.

The range for this position is $24.50 hourly rate - $30.75 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.

Support the Superintendent to complete the project on time, safely and on (or under) budget.
Read complex blueprints and equipment installation manuals and assist with installation plans based on low voltage engineered submittals.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
5 Years of experience installing controls, security and/or fire alarm systems.
1+ year of supervisory experience.
5 years of building automation/controls experience.

Must successfully pass a background check.
Ability to assess, read and complete the installation of low voltage electrical systems

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Maintain, service, troubleshoot, install, and repair electrical and electronic circuitry and related components associated with production equipment
* Must have good knowledge in the electronic diagnostics of PLC's, AC/DC drive systems, various types of computer operated control circuitry and that includes working with voltages up to 480VAC
* Utilize electrical ladder diagrams, electronic circuitry diagrams, and software programs to modify, repair, or improve equipment functionality
* Use a variety of tools such as: hand/power tools, electrical/electronic test equipment and calibration equipment
* Proficient in the repair of a wide variety of equipment
* Work closely with managers, other technicians and peers to maintain electronic/electrical systems on new/specialized equipment
* All other duties as assigned
Requirements
Skills and Abilities
* High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred
* A State Electrical license, technical certificate or a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience and/or training or any equivalent combination of education and experience
* Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole number, common fractions and decimals.
* Demonstrated skills in leadership, organization and communication are necessary
* Ability to anticipate problems and implement appropriate preventative measures
* Ability to develop new techniques for work processes
* Ability to redirect to issues as they emerge and reprioritize based on current business conditions
* Must possess excellent communication skills and be able to multi-task
* Be organized and able to plan, prioritize and follow through on projects assigned with minimal supervision
* Ability to carry out the responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures and OSHA laws
Physical Requirements
* Requires use of proper body mechanics with pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting, squatting, kneeling and bending
* Pushing/pulling and lifting up to 50 lbs
* Requires fine motor hand and arm movement, manual dexterity and coordination
* Requires near visual acuity
* Requires working around and operating departmental equipment
* Must be able to access and navigate each department in the facility
* Requires the ability to function in a professional manner under stressful circumstances
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to hazardous materials. A production employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts.

Position Responsibilities
Perform electrical installations on multifamily and commercial projects
