Position Summary: The Apprentice is responsible for assisting journeyman electricians in planning, installing, and repairing electrical systems. This position performs maintenance tasks, troubleshoot electrical issues, and learns how to safely handle electrical equipment and tools. The apprentice will receive on-the-job training and are required to be enrolled in a classroom-based apprenticeship program to enhance their knowledge and skills in the electrical trade. Duties/Responsibilities: Learn from journeyman electricians to perform the installation of electrical systems, wiring, lighting, and equipment according to local and national electrical codes. Participate in conducting routine maintenance of electrical systems to ensure they are in proper working condition. This may include supporting troubleshooting, repairs, and replacements. Learn to interpret and follow electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to plan and execute installations accurately. Using testing devices to check the functionality of electrical systems, identify faults, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Participate in inspections as required. Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Identify and mitigate potential electrical hazards. Stay updated on local and national electrical codes and regulations. Ensure all work meets the required standards. Ideal candidates will be willing and able to work in a traveling role at one of our construction sites across the United States. This position will qualify the candidate for participation in our apprenticeship program, and can provide long-term opportunities in the Electrical trade as well as steady work, benefits, and a 401K. Primary Role: Electrician Helpers work under the supervision and direction of Journeyman Electricians, foreman, and other leadership on the construction project. Helpers will perform duties as assigned within their assessed skill level, and will have the opportunity to enroll in Amteck's accredited apprenticeship program to work and study toward achieving Journeyman classification and licensure. Electrician helpers will also have the opportunity to learn and grown in other divisions of Amteck, like low voltage, controls, process work, and fire alarm along with other skill sets within the electrical trade. Essential Duties: Electrical Safety - work safely around the hazards associated with electricity. Select the proper applications for different types of voltages (i.e. 24, 120,240,480,600,12,800 61kv Electrician Tools - use hand, electric, pneumatic and hydraulic tools in a safe manner. P&ID / Blue Print Reading - Correctly reads and understands plans, isometrics, arrangement drawings, details, specifications, erection manuals and/or blue prints and makes competent decisions based on measurable criteria. Working knowledge of National Electric Code and full understanding of NFPA 70e Have sound knowledge of, understand and use Lock-out tag-out procedures Identify conduit and hardware Measure, cut and thread conduit Pull cable and wire conduit Identify cable tray and hardware Fabricate and install hangars and brackets Mount junction boxes Figure, cut and install cable tray with offsets Perform cad weld grinding Figure offsets, bend and install conduit Identify types and sizes of wire, cable insulation and color code of multi-conductor Identify electrical meters and instruments Install ground lugs Install lugs on 4/0 and larger cable Read wire/cable schedules Other duties by trade and assigned by supervisor Qualifications: Four (4) years minimum heavy industrial field experience as an Electrician. Preferred candidates will posses current State Electrical license and/or NCCER Knowledge and Performance Verified Certification. Must have locking toolbox and tools necessary to perform the job. Must be able to successfully complete all required pre-hire requirements. Physical/Site Requirements: Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 45 pounds. Move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas. Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with age. Work up to a 12-hour shift in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions. Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
