Position Summary DCAMM is seeking an Electrician II who plans layouts, prepares diagrammatic sketches, and installs, repairs, and maintains electrical systems and equipment. The incumbent troubleshoots electrical problems, maintains inventory of equipment and electrical supplies, and determines materials and/or equipment for assigned projects. The Electrician II maintains reports regarding time and production, repairs, and cost analysis. This is an Emergency Personnel position; the incumbent is expected to report to duty when the Governor states that only Emergency Personnel are to report to their jobs during certain Governor-declared emergencies. Duties for the Electrician II include: Plans layout and installs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment, with the exception of elevator control equipment; plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, to provide access for future maintenance, to avoid unsightly, hazardous and unreliable wiring and to conform with specifications and electrical codes. Repairs and maintains electrical equipment, such as motors, generators, transformers, regulators, wiring, switches, alarm systems and control equipment, by locating and determining the reason for malfunction, through the use of testing instruments, such as generators and heaters for the purpose of determining safety and efficiency. Observes and/or inspects the functioning of installed equipment or systems to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation or replacement and repairs faulty equipment or systems, as required. Inspects circuits and wiring for specified shielding and groundings, and repairs or rewires systems in accordance with building codes and safety regulations. Operates and maintains motors, generators, testing, switchboards, and power panels in good order, to avoid malfunctioning. Performs a variety of miscellaneous duties, such as tests and charges storage batteries; reads electric meters and records meter readings; cleans and lubricates electrical machinery and equipment; maintains an inventory of parts and equipment, etc. May supervise Laborers assisting in performing electrical installation, maintenance, and repair duties. Assists in maintenance and security of grounds and buildings as needed. Assist in snow removal operations as required. May attend meetings, seminars, and workshops.     GENERAL SUMMARY: The Trust 1 Apprentice is responsible for assisting in the install and servicing of plumbing, heating, and cooling units, following all applicable codes, under the direction of a technician. The Apprentice is also responsible for learning the plumbing, heating and cooling professions by participating in on the job training, attending educational courses, training, and following the coaching and teaching of the Technician and/or Managers. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Provides basic plumbing, heating, cooling and drain cleaning support services for customers at the direction of a technician. Develops basic knowledge of plumbing, heating, and cooling principles through on the job learning, courses/trainings and reading of educational materials during downtimes on the job site. Develops basic knowledge of service tools and testing devices. Develops soldering skills to support the Technician. Develops skills to perform planned maintenance on residential systems with assistance of a technician. Installs hang stickers and valve tags, as well as distributes flyers in the surrounding area as instructed by the Technician. Responds to all forms of communications, including voicemails and emails, by the end of business the same day received. Assists Technicians in maintaining clean, neat vehicles and job sites and projects a clean, well-groomed professional appearance always. Attends group meetings and training, as needed. Participates in monthly and special company meetings, as appropriate. Works with Technicians, Service Manager, and Install Manager to mutually establish performance improvements and seek out ongoing education/training opportunities.
