Qualifications:
Ability to operate equipment and machinery such as heavy-duty trucks, aerial trucks, lifts, end loaders, backhoes, excavating equipment, televising cameras, sewer jetters, forklifts, hand and power tools, electrical testing devices and instruments, and requires the ability to maintain and repair complex equipment and machinery.
Knowledge of the standard methods, materials and equipment used in the electrical trade; principles of electricity and basic electronics and their application; and the National Electrical Code and its application.
Ability to learn and use GIS, SCADA, Microsoft Office Suite and most common business software programs.
Ability to exert regular and sustained heavy physical effort with an emphasis on climbing and balancing which also involves stooping, crouching, and lifting, pushing and pulling moderately heavy objects and materials, 20 to 50 pounds, and may occasionally involve objects and materials up to 125 pounds.
Position is performed in both inside and outside environmental conditions, under fluctuating and extreme temperatures and weather conditions, with some exposure to noise, fumes, chemicals, oils, electrical current, heights and confined spaces.
Ability to work in a team environment, follow safe work practices, communicate verbally and in writing, and demonstrate excellence in customer service.
Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, holidays and overtime as assigned. Ability to respond to emergency situations 24 hours a day. On call work is assigned by rotation amongst selected employees, which includes all of the Utilities Division.

Education, Experience and Licenses:

Minimum of three years of experience in the electrical field as a journeyman level electrician, preferably in a municipal setting, is required.
Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) Class C Drinking Water Operator Certification is preferred.
Possess a valid Illinois Class A or B commercial driver's license (CDL) with air brake and tanker endorsements, or have the ability to obtain a commercial learner's permit within two months of hire and CDL within six months of hire.

Design, prototype, test and troubleshoot battery systems including both hardware and firmware.
Create test plans for components and assemblies within the scope of the project and organization.
Use laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, e-loads and data acquisition systems.

Draw concise, logical, written conclusions from experiments based on data analysis.

What TOOLS you'll bring with you:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Understanding of Li-Ion or other cell chemistries; battery system design, architecture, testing, or integration.
Ability to work well within cross-functional teams, communicate effectively, and manage time/task delegation efficiently.
Familiarity with operating various lab equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, and e-loads.
High proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel and Power Point.
Excellent problem-solving skills, exercises independent judgement and performs consistently under pressure in a dynamic environment.
Ability to travel 10% of the time (domestic and international).

Key Responsibilities
Plan, layout, and install electrical components and systems using schematics and engineering drawings
Use hand and power tools, bending/threading machines, and cranes to position and install wiring and equipment
Measure, cut, and run wire and conduit; connect pre-wired components and complete circuits
Strip, splice, solder, and connect terminals, lugs, and hardware
Perform functional and diagnostic tests using voltmeters, watt meters, phase sequence meters, tachometers, and stroboscopes
Troubleshoot and adjust electrical systems to meet specifications
Lead and support others in installing and testing rotating, relay, and electronic circuits
Required Qualifications
Experience with electrical tools: drills, pliers, wire strippers, soldering equipment, cranes, etc.
Familiarity with electrical components: conduits, wires, cables, fittings, grease, oil, and hardware
Ability to read and interpret schematics, wire diagrams, and blueprints
Working knowledge of high, medium, and low-pressure hydraulic and automated lube systems
3-5 years of electrical assembly experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting
Preferred Qualifications
Strong attention to detail and ability to work to close tolerances
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Commitment to safety and quality standards
Willingness to work overtime to meet production demands
