The Health Technologies team conceives and proves out exciting new technology for Apple's future products and features. In this role you can be involved in the end-to-end new product development cycle, from proof of concept HW development to factory production - ultimately working to invent, produce, and improve HW technologies that seek to improve human quality of life.
In this role, you'll be part of a prototyping and development team collaborating with other teams and experts to create innovative health products and features. As a sensors electrical engineer, your responsibilities will include: defining sensor architectures and specifications to meet feature requirements; designing and building prototype circuits and corresponding test and characterization setups; supporting user studies and data collection; and analyzing lab, study, and factory data. The role also requires heavy collaboration across several disciplines, which is critical to the success of health features.
An understanding of sensor physics from the perspective of a main sensing mechanism and as a source of error. This includes common effects such as thermal, strain, optical, etc… An understanding of power integrity and power-distribution networks to enable very low noise design of sensor systems. Able and willing to travel in the future to product manufacturing facilities both domestic and international to provide technical support as needed. Previous experience working on health related projects is a plus
An ability to design sensor circuits. This including ability to analyze analog signals and noise for frontend circuits such as amplifiers, filters, and A/D converters. It also includes ability to use schematic capture and PCB layout techniques, encompassing noise optimization, component selection, thermal control, etc. Ability to work on embedded systems. This includes working with designs using microcontrollers, and common communication protocols such as I2C and SPI. It also includes experience developing firmware (C or C++) to enable sensor data collection or streaming. An understanding of statistics and an ability to analyze engineering data. This includes topics on statistical distributions, repeatability, reproducibility, confidence intervals, etc. Ability to bring up, test and characterize sensor systems. This includes debugging firmware, circuit boards (analog and digital signals), and developing scripts. Scripts enable interfacing with prototype hardware and the automation of lab setups (e.g. Python or Matlab). Should thrive in fast-paced environment, be highly organized, and be able to multitask. Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to work as a key member of a team. Strong analytical, and problem-solving skills. Detail oriented. 5 years of experience in electrical engineering. This can include time spent on graduate degrees.

What you will be responsible for:
We are looking for a highly experienced, journeyman-level electrician to join our field team. In this role, you will take ownership of the full scope of electrical work across our single-family residential job sites-from rough-in through final trim including temporary and permanent power infrastructure. You will be expected to work independently, bring deep knowledge of residential electrical systems, and serve as an expert resource to other site crew members. A license is not required, but journeyman-level experience is essential.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Champion Jobsite Safety: Consistently model and reinforce safe work practices, including use of PPE, compliance with OSHA standards, and proactive hazard identification and mitigation.
Conduct Pre-Task Safety Planning: Lead or participate in daily safety huddles and job hazard analyses specific to electrical scopes to ensure all team members are aware of risks and controls.
Lead Electrical Installation: Plan and execute full electrical system installation in new residential construction, including conduit, wiring, panels, grounding systems, service masts, pull boxes, devices, and fixtures, ensuring compliance with design documents and NEC standards.
System Testing and Inspections: Perform site system testing on all electrical systems to ensure everything is wired properly and in working order. Facilitate rough-in and final city inspections with the site superintendent.
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Identify and resolve complex electrical issues across all phases of construction with minimal supervision.
System Integration: Support integration of smart home systems, backup power, solar-ready infrastructure, and high-efficiency electrical components.
Site Preparation & Coordination: Work with the site team and materials team to plan layout and sequencing for rough-in and final installation, ensuring seamless coordination with other trades (framing, plumbing, HVAC).
Tool and Equipment Oversight: Maintain high standards for tool use, organization, and upkeep; ensure testing equipment is calibrated and functioning.
Prevent Rework & Improve the Product: Apply a quality-first mindset to the work, identifying potential issues early and communicating proactively with other trades, supervisors, and design team to drive design and product improvement.
Lean Construction Participation: Contribute to Lean Construction workflows by identifying areas to reduce waste, improve flow, and prevent rework.
Mentorship & Collaboration: Provide technical guidance and informal mentorship to less experienced crew members. Maintain open communication with the Site Foreman to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
Qualifications and Skills:
Journeyman-Level Experience: Minimum 7 years of residential electrical experience with proven expertise in new single-family home construction.
Technical Mastery: Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), standard installation practices, and safe working methods.
Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret and work from construction plans, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams with a high degree of accuracy.
Tools & Equipment: Advanced proficiency with electrical tools and diagnostic equipment, including multimeters, benders, and wire-pulling tools.
Self-Reliance & Accountability: Capable of completing full electrical scopes with minimal direction; takes pride in delivering quality work the first time.
Team Orientation: Works well as part of a cross-functional crew; communicates clearly and respectfully with teammates and leadership.
