POSITION SUMMARY: The Instrumentation and Electrical Forman is responsible for planning, supervising, performing and coordinating all phases of installation, maintenance, repair and inspection of electrical systems and service work in new or remodeled facilities. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions. May need to maintain physical strength and stamina; Use arms, hands, and legs fully; Push, pull, and frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; and stoop, kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, and climb to perform job tasks. Stamina to perform this task repetitively and continuously for several hour intervals. Uncontrolled environmental conditions: Constant change in weather and site conditions. Duties Help You will serve as an Expert Electrician leading a group to ensure work assignments are completed. You will be responsible for the repair, overhaul, installation, modification, calibration, and test of electrical systems and equipment on naval surface ships and submarines, both nuclear and non-nuclear. You will set up, operate, and troubleshoot various types of equipment utilized to manufacture and overhaul surface and sub-surface ship's components. You will disassemble, clean, and replace visually found defective parts, reassemble, check for more faulty components, replaces the same, align, calibrate and check out equipment using known standards and test equipment. You will oversee adjustments and repairs to maintain operation of electrical equipment, cause of malfunction or defects and repairs or replaces worn, damaged, or defective parts. You will assure that all work assignments of the groups are carried out on any of the three shifts as assigned. You will pass instructions received from supervisors and provide overview of tasks to be performed to other workers. You will keep supervisor apprised of potential problems, controversial issues, and recommend corrective actions. You will inspect completed and in process work for quality of workmanship and adhere to requirements, specifications, standards, plans and schedules.
