Essential Functions
Inspects, repairs, troubleshoots, installs, modifies, and maintains electrical systems, circuits and equipment.
Must have knowledge of and experience working with electrical systems ranging from 120V - 480V
Knowledge of working with ballast lighting
Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
Connects wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
Inspects electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
Advises management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
Reads, interprets, and works from diagrams, blueprints, sketches, repair manuals, and schematics.
Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of National Electrical Codes.
Possesses knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials used in electrical trade.
Must be safety conscious and work safely within a team-oriented environment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Willingness to Work at Various Heights: The ideal candidate must be comfortable working in elevated environments. This includes tasks that may require being at different heights for extended periods.
Ladder Climbing: Regular climbing of ladders is a critical part of this position. The candidate must be capable of safely ascending and descending ladders of various sizes and types.
Utilizing Various Lifts: Proficiency in operating a range of lifts is essential. This involves maneuvering scissor lifts, boom lifts, and other mechanical devices to reach higher areas.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements
High School Diploma / GED
5+ years commercial or industrial electrical maintenance experience
Must have experience with commercial and industrial power distribution systems, including 120/208V and 277/480V configurations
Knowledge of a variety of building maintenance procedures and techniques.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Skill in using hand and power tools.
Must be authorized to work in the US

Summary The Manufacturing Electrical Controls Technician - PLC plays an integral part in the safe and successful production of refractory brick products at HarbisonWalker Internationals Fairfield plant. This role is responsible for overseeing the installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of electrical fixtures and control equipment from a PLC standpoint to ensure that equipment and wiring are to code and optimal levels of quality and safety are met; the Manufacturing Electrical Controls Technician - PLC is responsible for making changes to, maintaining, and upgrading the automated PLC programs at the Fairfield plant. In addition, the Manufacturing Electrical Controls Technician - PLC maintains clean & safe work environment as well as maintains professional working relationships with co-workers.
Responsibilities
Troubleshooting and modifying ladder logic programs on Siemens and Allen Bradly PLCs; troubleshooting of various VFDs / Motor Controls / Hardwire relay logic electrical processes.
Creating, modifying and maintaining the robotic brick pallet set patterns on HPF presses
Changing PLC programs for efficiencies and aid in process improvement; replacing PLC/upgrading PLC's.
Troubleshooting robotic issues at pressing and packaging lines
Collaborating with Engineering department on electrical capital projects
Identifying, analyzing and troubleshooting electrical malfunctions in equipment and related components, diagnosing, and correcting the problems quickly to avoid production delays; performing electrical preventative and corrective maintenance on plant equipment
Reading electrical blueprints and setting up/operating multimeters and other electrical test equipment
Performing general electrical work, i.e., conduit, wire sizing and pulling wire for electrical projects.
Update electrical schematics and single line drawings as needed when changes are made.
Ensure all equipment / prints are kept up to standard with ARC flash standards and labeling.
Complying with established facility safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), machine guarding and other regulations as applicable. Writing and updating Safe Operating Procedures: Maintaining safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations and identifying, reporting and correcting at risk situations and behavior.
Requirements
Requires associates degree in Engineering Technology, Electronics or other related field or Certificates in Allen Bradley 5000 Studio Suite and/or Siemens Step 7 Programming software
Strong computer skills; ability to enter data into a computer and navigate software
Knowledge of Arc Flash
Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits, including 480 V
Knowledge of pneumatics and repair skills
Ability to troubleshoot and program PLC ladder logic
Demonstrable knowledge and skills for electrical installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment

The Manufacturing Electrical Controls Technician - PLC requires three (3) - five (5) years of experience in PLC programming, preferable Allen Bradley 5000 Suite and Siemens Step 7.
