Work Schedule: Between the hours of 6 am to 6 pm, Monday through Friday. May vary based on customer demands and can include, but is not limited to: nights, weekends, and holidays.
POSITION SUMMARY
These positions are responsible for electrical installations, troubleshooting, and maintenance within the commercial, industrial, and residential settings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Installs, maintains, and/or troubleshoots basic electrical systems in compliance with the National Electric Code (NEC).
Analyzes blueprints effectively and utilizes information on jobsite.
Diagnose malfunctioning systems and components using test equipment to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
Provide highest quality of craftsmanship, with the result being a service/solution that meets or exceeds the customer's expectation.
Coordinate the ordering of materials, when needed, through designated channels.
Installs conduit systems, various lighting systems, basic control systems, and feeders.
Maintains compliance with all OSHA and customer-specific safety requirements.
Participates in toolbox talks, safety audits, and related safety functions.
Maintains current licensing and safety training requirements.
Offers technical assistance to field employees as needed.
Provides direction, training, and mentorship to Helpers/Apprentices.
Cleans and maintains job site, tools, and vehicles.
Identifies, corrects, and/or reports any unsafe acts, conditions, or incidents.
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Our apprenticeship program is approximately four years and is a combination of classroom and on-the-job training. We have a training staff dedicated to making the duration of the apprenticeship is well rounded, challenging and valuable.
Where you will work
Electricians serve our Wisconsin Power and Light customers. Training for the apprenticeship will take place at our training facility, vendor locations externally, and throughout our service territory. Training will require travel during the apprenticeship, working with other teams within our Wisconsin territories.
Upon completion of the apprenticeship program, our journey level Electrician will be assigned to the Northern or Southern Area of our Wisconsin territory.
There are emergency response and travel requirements in this role. Because of this, the selected applicant will be required to meet the 45 minute residency requirement under the contractual guidelines.
What you will do
* Constructs substations and maintains the electrical and related equipment of a substation in proper condition to give continuous satisfactory service.
* Installs and maintains high voltage cables.
* In some cases, rebuilds or enlarges substations and installs new equipment.
* Installs and maintains signal and communication equipment.
* Makes large power meter installations for large power customers.
* May direct the work of an electrician's helper, electrician apprentice, laborer semi-skilled, and occasional temporary help.
* Works on energized lines and equipment. Works with live line maintenance tools. Keeps informed on and abides by the required Safety Rules, Operating Practices and codes pertaining to all phases of substation work.
* Keeps related records and makes reports as required.
* Examples: Inspects and repairs circuit breakers, motors, generators, battery chargers, transformers, voltage regulators, lightning arresters; testing, filling, and charging storage batteries; inspecting customers' transformer vaults, and other electric utility equipment.
* Performs other duties which are similar, related or incidental to this position.
Supervision
* Work performed under the general supervision of the chief electrician or substation construction and maintenance supervisor.
* None. May direct the work of an electrician apprentice and/or occasional temporary help.
Education Requirements

Required Experience
* Satisfactory completion of an approved course in applied electricity
* 4 years of experience as an electrician apprentice or equivalent experience in a responsible position in the operation of a plant, substation, or similar work

General Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Controls/Electrical Technician to join our innovative team. Responsibilities:
+ Assisting with solar panel installations on roof and ground mounted systems
+ Assisting the electrician with wiring, maintaining and troubleshooting residential solar systems
+ Construction experience including roofing and framing is a plus
+ Prior electrical experience is not required. Candidates will be given the potential to earn a sponsored electrician apprenticeship.
Qualifications:
+ Excellent customer service skills required (Must have the communication skills necessary to confidently interact with customers, both over the phone and in person.)
+ Thrive in a team environment.
+ Regular, reliable and predictable attendance required.
+ Must be comfortable climbing on roofs from a ladder.
+ Must be comfortable crawling in attics.
+ Must be able to work effectively when alone.
+ Experience with solar power is beneficial, but not required, as it can be learned on the job.

Starting salary range: $15-$25/ hour
