The Position
The ElectricalDesigner for Above Group shall contribute and support the Power, Lighting, Grounding, Lightning Protection, Fire Alarm, and Systems or Low Voltage Engineering efforts for the firm. The ED shall directly contribute to the Firm and its success through drafting and design efforts. The ED is a Designer by education and experience:
Ability to combine personal judgment with information to implement design criteria.
Has expertise in power and lighting. Preference given to experience with grounding, lighting protection, fire alarm, communications, and electronic security systems.
Demonstrates proficiency with lighting calculations, panelboard load calculations, and load demand calculations. Preference given to experience with short-circuit analysis and arc flash hazard analysis.

Position summary
The ElectricalDesigner develops and coordinates complete AC and DC design packages for utility-scale solar and BESS projects, from early design through Issued-for-Construction (IFC) deliverables. This role supports both Engineer-of-Record (EOR)-led and in-house engineering efforts and ensures that designs meet project scope, schedule, budget, safety, quality, and constructability requirements in alignment with Signal Energy's core principles.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Lead the development of PV array and BESS electricaldesign packages from concept through IFC, including single-line and three-line diagrams, conduit and cable schedules, and wiring details for utility-scale projects.
Prepare detailed DC collection layouts (stringing plans, combiner boxes, DC feeders) and AC collection layouts (inverters, MV transformers, MV feeders, and terminations) to achieve performance and cost objectives.
Perform core electricaldesign calculations including string sizing, voltage drop, conductor and raceway sizing, short-circuit, equipment ratings, grounding, and overcurrent protection in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
Interpret and implement project design criteria, owner requirements, utility interconnection requirements, and site-specific conditions into cohesive, constructible design documentation.
Produce plan and detail drawings in AutoCAD (and related tools), including equipment layouts, raceway routing, trench and duct bank details, cable routing plans, vaults, terminations, and grounding diagrams.
Coordinate closely with civil, structural, high-voltage, BESS, and construction teams to resolve spatial conflicts and ensure electricaldesigns are fully integrated with grading, roads, drainage, and foundations.
Support preliminary and detailed energy modeling (e.g., PVSyst or similar) by providing accurate design assumptions, losses, and equipment configurations to optimize system performance and reliability.
Assist in preparing permit, interconnection, and construction submittal packages, including drawing sets, calculations, and responses to AHJ, utility, and client comments.
Provide construction-phase design support including RFI responses, design clarifications, redline incorporation, and updates to as-built documentation.
Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of Signal Energy's standard details, design tools, workflows, and best practices for utility-scale solar and BESS projects.
Attributes and competencies
Strong technical foundation in power systems and utility-scale solar/BESS electricaldesign, including DC/AC collection, grounding, overcurrent protection, and interconnection concepts.
Comfortable interfacing with clients, EORs, utilities, construction teams, and internal stakeholders, with clear written and verbal communication skills for technical reports, RFIs, and design justifications.
Proficient in AutoCAD (or equivalent CAD platform) for electricaldesign; familiarity with PV modeling tools (PVSyst, Helioscope) and power system analysis software (ETAP, SKM, or similar) is preferred.
Able to manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines, balancing quality, speed, and cost in a fast-paced EPC environment.
Collaborative and solutions-oriented team member who operates with integrity and a focus on safety, constructability, and long-term asset performance.
Self-motivated, organized, and driven to continuously improve design standards, tools, and processes.
Education and experience
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related discipline; equivalent relevant experience in utility-scale solar design may be considered in lieu of degree.
5+ years of experience in solar PV or power systems design, with at least 3 years focused on commercial, industrial, or utility-scale solar and/or BESS.
Working knowledge of NEC and NFPA; familiarity with NESC, IEEE, and utility interconnection standards is strongly preferred.
EIT or PE license, and/or NABCEP PV Design or PV Installation certification preferred but not required.
Work environment and location
Primary location is Signal Energy's Houston, TX office, with a “Houston-first” approach to hiring and team collaboration.
Remote work from other U.S. locations may be considered for highly qualified candidates, with periodic travel to Houston and project sites as needed (up to approximately 10%).
Work is performed in an office environment with occasional visits to active construction sites, requiring adherence to safety protocols and PPE use.

The ElectricalDesigner II will be a part of the PCB Design team and will play a role in the development of our power tool electronics. As a member of the PCB Design team you will utilize Altium design tools at an expert level. Work with Engineers & Senior ElectricalDesigners to design Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBA) for AC & DC circuits in new and existing products.
Proficiency in PCB layout tasks such as: definition of PCBA dimensions based on system design constraints, circuit block arrangement (floor-planning), power and ground plane creation, component placement, and routing of signal nets to minimize cost and maximize design for manufacturability, reliability, thermal management, and test (DFx).
Apply both general as well as project specific Design Rules and resolve DRC errors.
You will also learn to create & modify both general as well as project specific Design Rules and resolve DRC errors.
Prepare and present PCB designs for technical review in compliance with Milwaukee Design Processes.
Generate PCB document packages in compliance with Milwaukee standards.
Work closely with PCB vendors to source prototypes from our design files (either 1-up or panelized) if required.
Participate in component library maintenance including creation of component footprints, generation of schematic symbols, 3D models and entry of new parts in the Electronics CAD (ECAD) library.
Complete ECAD/MCAD file transfer & work with members of the mechanical design team to achieve excellence in system design and quality.
Complete selected IPC or other training to enhance your knowledge & design skillset.

What you will do
The primary role of the Fire Alarm Designer is to design fire alarm systems for Johnson Controls projects. Acting as a design lead on large complex multi-faceted projects and directing other members of the design team (CAD team member resources).
How you will do it
Organizes and plans own workload, helps to direct workload of less experienced design team members, and additionally works with other design teams as needed.
Facilitates reviews of initial designs of medium complexity to provide value engineered/code compliant solutions where required.
Coordinates with CAD Support Technicians to prepare fully detailed technical submissions with complete detailed schematics and drawings to meet design criteria and system code compliance.
Oversees CAD Support Technicians in the preparation of project submissions for medium complexity systems including system operation, drawings, and calculations.

Develops bill of materials to facilitate construction.

Minimum of three years' experience in design of Fire and Security systems.
NICET Certification Level II, or Level 1 with Level II attainability.
Experienced with NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm Code), ICC 2018 and 2021 code editions.
Experience in Fire Alarm, Security, Nurse Call, CCTV and/or Construction Industry.
High school degree or equivalent required.
Demonstrated ability in drafting/CAD, computer skills estimating/pricing, and project management.
Proficient in reading and understanding architectural, electrical, sprinkler suppression, mechanical construction drawings. Knowledge of multiple electronic building system thought process and field practicalities.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD version 2020 or newer.

Summary/Objective:
Design Fire Protection Sprinkler Systems for all types of projects in Commercial and Industrial
Essential Functions:
Designs layout of various types of fire protection systems including wet-pipe, dry-pipe, pre-action, and deluge fire suppression systems supported by domestic infrastructure, fire pumps, and storage tanks on a wide variety of projects types
Interprets architectural drawings and specifications to develop complete fire protection submittal packages in accordance with the contract documents, building codes, and NFPA Standards
Participates in BIM 3D Modeling coordination
Performs hydraulic calculations
Conducts field survey prior to fabrication
Compiles stock lists, and prepares field installation drawings
Prepares closeout documents
Performs facility commissioning of fire protection systems and/or investigate system failures
Assists field personnel in resolving design related installation issues
Applies sound fire protection engineering principles to troubleshoot and solve client related issues
Performs other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibility: No
Required:
2 - 3 years related design experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience (preferably in a construction environment)
Must be able to complete design projects start to finish, while working independently
Must be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail and demonstrate problem-solving skills
Strong communication and research skills, mechanical aptitude, and attention to detail
Working knowledge of AutoCAD drafting software and HydraCAD sprinkler design software
Experience with at least one 3D CADD program and BIM
Proven examples of large contract work awarded during career
Must have advanced Microsoft Office skills
Must be able to pass post-offer pre-employment drug screen, and may be required to satisfactorily complete additional background checks as required (i.e. DMV, criminal history)
Must adhere to all company policy and procedures
Must be available to work assigned schedules

Works in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment
Position will require occasional visits to construction sites

Field installation experience
REVIT experience

The Field Engineer is responsible for the supervision of the installation of electrical portion of heavy-duty equipment in our projects and the overseeing of the start-up and commissioning activities.
You will carry on the following activities:
Serve as the primary contact for all onsite activities for the electrical portion.
Overseeing installation and commissioning of electrical control systems as well as field service calls on previously installed systems.
Resolve operational issues and unforeseen conditions to minimize costs and prevent construction delays.
Work on control systems like PLC and PC-based automation systems, MCC and power distribution systems, AC and DC drive systems, operator controls and HMIs as well as all the associated field sensors, motors and actuators in a fully automated, modern and highly networked control system.
Required profile:
Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in the same role.
An understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic and motor controls.
Programming experience:
PLCs: Siemens S7, Rockwell ControlLogix, GE
HMIs: Wonderware, Interacty X, RSView, WinCC
Familiarity with one or more of the following high level languages is a plus but not required: LabView, Microsoft Studio, Pascal, Delphi.
ASEE, BSEE, military training, or extensive experience in trouble-shooting electrical control systems is required.
Must be able to interact and communicate effectively with individuals at all levels within and outside of the organization.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Proven analytical, evaluative and problem-solving abilities.
Demonstrated time management skills necessary to simultaneously manage multiple projects.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Preferred Skills or Experience:
Experience in SAP
Experience in the metals industry, especially cold rolling mills, is a plus.
Experience with large AC and DC drives and related equipment is a plus.
