The Piping Drafting/Design Intern will work alongside the Piping Facilitator to help develop department standards and project deliverables using 2D AutoCAD and Microsoft products. Additional tasks include preparing training documentation and participation in training sessions geared towards piping design and layout, including the use of 3D pipe modeling software. This position may interface with other disciplines to provide drafting services as needed.Responsibilities
Create department standard drawings using 2D AutoCAD under the guidance of the Piping Facilitator and Department Manager.
Help to develop training material for piping department training sessions as well as participate in these sessions.
Participation in Plant 3D training sessions to learn how to use typical project documentation to create a piping layout and deliverables in a 3D database environment.
Revise project deliverables such as lists and drawings under the guidance of a project piping lead. This may involve working with disciplines other than piping.
Aid in organizing and filing documents for projects.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering Technology Program at an accredited college or university (2 or 4 year path)
Strong attention to detail and organization skills
Effective communication skills in order to convey ideas is a must
Ability to work within diverse teams assembled from Nexus, clients, and others
Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel and Word
Proficient with 2D AutoCAD
Knowledge of 3-D modeling techniques and terms
